As a result of that report, the state School Construction Corporation has notified the architect, contractor and construction management expert for the school that they all bear responsibility for the problems, which led to the mold, and they will all share in the cost to partially demolish and rebuild the school. SCC officials have estimated the cost to repair the damage at between $5 million and $10 million. The work will delay the school's opening by one year. In a letter Wednesday to principals of SSP Architectural Group of Somerville, Construction of Somerset and Gilbane Building of Neptune - the companies the SCC believes are responsible for the problem - the SCC's senior director of project management, Regina Bleck, said it is the SCC's preference that the matter be handled through mediation. Failing that, she said, the SCC would initiate legal action against the companies
