Emsfan5,

If you are sick from the building, there is a good chance the property

manager will not want you there any more than you want to be there. Write a

POLITE letter stating that you would like out of your lease and why you would

want

out.

I have seen this several times. If addressed early enough, you and your

landlord may come to an amicable resolution.

Hi Emsfan5, it doesn't sound like a coincidence. I have realized, after

several trys, that liveing on the first floor of someplace with a

basement is not a good place for me to be. many old homes with

basements around here have been made into apartments and I think most

of them have severe mold problems. I'm in one now but my apartment is

on the top floor and has its own intrance. as long as the roof doesn't

leak I fell it's a pretty good place to be. however the renters below

told me the basement is really nasty and it's supposed to be where we

go when tornado's come. not me, I'll take my chances else where. I

can't tell you how to go about breaking your lease. maybe just explain

to him that molds in the place is makeing you sick, and you just cant

stay there. maybe if he has a clue and he should, he will be happy to

break the lease and avoid what could turn into a lawsuit.
