Well, at least he was honest about what his agenda was..

*sigh*

With all the money these people spend on avoiding their responsibilities, a

frequent thought I have is that they should just deal with them and forget

about it. (the character assassination, etc.) On a case by case basis, I

often think it might be cheaper.. ha ha..

But of course I'm wrong.. because of the law of averages.. They fight every

case that gets that far.. and that discourages people from suing, most

people.. probably 99% of all people. And ten you have the barrier in many

states where the injury has to be very bad in order to be worth an

attorney's time. That excludes most adults.. no matter how bad their

injiuries are, because they wont require a lifetime of palliative care..

Their lives just arent worth enough.

I guess, if out of 100 potential cases, they can intimidate or discourage

lawyers from fighting 95% of them and only get served with a complaint for 5

and go to trial with 1 and then settle with 3/4 of THEM for pennies on the

true cost of te injury to the person, then they can reduce their costs of

doing (moldy) business QUITE a bit and keep many marginal properties

profitable long after they should have been torn down, etc.

I'd like to see their decision matrix.. it must be a doosy..

If any of the defense bar/insurance company lurkers on this list feel

subversive and generous, maybe they could email it to me? I promise not to

post it.

[] OT: 48 hours investigates

I don't know how many of you watched 48 hrs Mystery last night, but

the investigation and murder of Coffin made our hearts jump

when we heard of the prominent Altanta doctor was. Dr.Dave is

the psychiatrist that we visited for the defense (in our case). This

is the same guy that labeled Sharon with everything but, basically

it was a character assination. He is also the " gentlemen " (jerk)

that said to her, " You do know why you are here right? " She

said, " Not really, since I have already had to psych evaluations. "

He said, " The defense sent you here for me to prove that you are a

liar. " And her reply, " And I'm sure they paid you very well to do

just that. Now you have a good day. " Nice guy....

The Ghost Of Coffin

Will Justice Be Served In A 10-Year-Old Murder Case?

April 6, 2007

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/04/06/48hours/main2655724.shtml

was the prime suspect, but he was hardly a typical

murder suspect. His father, Dr. Dave , is a prominent Atlanta

forensic psychiatrist, who made media appearances profiling

criminals.

He now found himself defending his own son. " has never been in

trouble. He's never done anything like this. And I've never known

him to be violent. The whole thing just seemed outrageous to me, "

tells Maher.

When the defense lays out its case, Dr. takes the stand. He

tells jurors about the toll the accusations first took on his son

ten years ago.

" He was sounding panicked and terrorized. I never ever heard him

like that before, " Dr. testifies. " I think its consistent with

being accused of a crime he did not commit. "

also provides his son an alibi for Saturday evening, around

the time the state believes 's house was ransacked. " He came

over to my house, " Dr. testifies. " It was around 6:30, I

remember I was watching the news. "

That takes prosecutor Kellie Hill by surprise. Dr.

acknowledged on the stand that it was the first time he had told

anyone in law enforcement that his son was at his house on Dec. 7th.

Sheila Ross says she thinks Dave was lying.
