Guest guest
I have to tell you my Madeline story now. Madeline is my favorite story as a child and I was reading these stories to Caitlyn from the day she was born. At 3 mos. old, I replaced the word " appendix " with " aneurysm " and " on her chest there was a scar " (instead of stomach) and " We want to have open-heart surgeries too " (instead of our appendix out) to make these apply to Caitlyn. Well at 8 mos. old she was admitted for a " virus " which had made her severely dehydrated because she was not eating and she had thrown up a lot. Well I had Madeline memorized by now and would recite it to her (my version)while getting IVs placed (which took hrs each time-she kept losing them) and other not-niceties. Well her dr was trying his best to get a line in her and asked me how I found a story that matched Caitlyn's so, and I told him about how it's really about a little girl who had appendicitis. All this while the docs still don't have a clue as to what's wrong with Caitlyn who's getting sicker and sicker by the hour. Well the next day she was taken into emergency surgery and not expected to survive. Her intestines had swollen shut and may have needed to be removed. The docs found that it was actually her appendix having burst and after removing it she began to recover bit by bit immediately. Her doc came to visit me and to ask me not to read any more stories to my child about medical conditions that she didn't have yet. :-) He said he had never heard of any child under the age of 3 having appendicitis but would never forget the irony of what had happened.
