But isn't one big point of modern hospital design to maintain laminar

airflow on all surfaces so that the air can be effectively

filtered to reduce the amount of viable spore levels to far below the levels

found outdoors. To do this they need very high tech

filters because the smallest aspergillus and penicillium spores are very

small and so they can go right through a lot of filters.
