Guest guest
And now she wants to be able to commit suicide legally because of her ALS? the thing that scares me about assisted suicide is that people may do it so their families won't be impoverished, lose their homes, etc. by the cost of their care, not because they really are in so much pain they don't want to go on living. The two are very different things. A lot of people would not be so distressed if there was some way for them to be both ill and live the way they did before, some kind of affordable management of their chronic illnesses. Ideally they would not lose their home, because once someone loses an affordable home, often where they have been living for a long time, often they have noplace else to go, and no hope of finding one, shy of a miracle.
