Guest guest
Ok, I have a serious question. I have worked for myself most of my adult life, first in the trades, then as a restaurant owner operator. I always felt like I was living the American dream. Now I'm looking at 45 and can barely walk. Uncle Sam tells me I haven't paid in enough to draw disability. I have always paid my taxes, just quarterly, instead of out of a paycheck, and I have to pay taxes on my workers as well. Having the government tell me I have not paid enough does not change the fact that I can barely walk some days, but I still have to park at the back of the parking lot, while there are always 10 empty disabled spots open up front that I can't use. How does one in my situation get a deal for my car to use the disabled spot?
Guest guest
Have you spoke with your doctor? I don't know where you are - but here in WI, I go to the Motor Vehicle Department and get an application for permanent handicap parking (or your doctor may have them as well), take it to the doctor, discuss with them why you want it and then based on your history, the doctor can sign the application to approve you having handicap parking. Take the application to the Motor Vehicle Department and they will give you the handicap either sticker, plate, sign, etc whatever your state uses. At least that is how it works here in WI. Hope this helps. W. parking Ok, I have a serious question. I have worked for myself most of my adult life, first in the trades, then as a restaurant owner operator. Guest guest
it's a place to start, thank-you. I for some reason thought you had to go through the social security office. I live in rural North Dakota, it's probably about the same way here, again thank-you > > Have you spoke with your doctor? Guest guest
hey, I didn't catch your name. the way I got mine is because of my daughter. it is not mine even though now I use it. my daughter has Down Syndrome. Hurry and not a word that she knows. She I guess you could say I got it more for safety. I think I got a form at the DOT or the State Patrol station and took it to my Dr. and he filled out the form and I took it back to the Patrol station at that time. my license plate is handicap. and hers is life long. I need to check in to getting another place card or whatever you call them for my husband's truck. he lost his. Jena parking Ok, I have a serious question. Guest guest
My name is Tom,(bizley45) and I remember you. My family calls me Tommy since my fathers name is also...could be worse, at least they don't call me Junior or bubba….TJ would have been ok, anyway, I digress…cold turkey on Christmas, sounds like a redneck joke… I started coming here close to two years ago. I was going nuts trying to cope w/o meds and fighting the pain with only the help of my dear wife. It's hard falling down in front of the ones you love, but I don't have to tell anyone here about that. I eventually listened to you all and started taking medication for the pain. I have been working hard theses past months, as my pain worsens, and the meds become less affective, the injections no longer work, and I'm getting hurt from falling down. I've had to stop working for now, I'm in up to my eyeballs with a new building and a customer base, everything I ever wanted I have…..If I can just stay standing long enough to make it happen. I suffer with ra and oa, I get nasty bone spurs in my joints until they no longer work, the joints swell, and I find it difficult to walk, bend, drive, work...you know, the usual. I have had a shoulder replacement. After several reconstructive operations, the blood vessels died. I'm looking at a resurfacing operation for my hips as an alternative to full hip replacement. If anyone has any info or an opinion on that procedure, I would appreciate it. I live in rural North Dakota, and my restaurant will stay closed until I can recover or train someone to take my place….funny thing is, I seem to be the only one who wants the job. I got calls and greetings from my customers telling me they missed my place, had me in tears. That's my story...I'll be around a lot more, I'm kind of house bound right now, The wife got me a new cane, can't wait to heal up and try it out

Guest guest
Take it from one has a new respect for pain and what it will do to your body. My recent bout with high blood pressure and irregular heart beat...all from pain. It was getting dangerous and the guy who saw me at an Urgent Care told me the pain management was just too light weight. By all means. Use the pain meds to protect your sanity as well as your body. It really can get dangerous and if anyone gives you a ration of crap...tell them my story. I could've been sitting here wondering what to do with a new stroke or heart attack if it hadn't been for a good emergency PA who saw the problem clearly and treated it quickly. It was treated as an emergency...all from under treated pain. I'm on a stronger pain management now. You do what you need to do for YOU. Do what you have to do. It will be wonderful having you around to share with. Take good care of yourself. You put yourself first.
