Guest guest
Val, My eyes were driving me crazy so I picked up a small bottle of baby shampoo. I washed my hands very well first, lathered up some baby shampoo, <<SHUT MY EYES!>>, then lathered up eye lids and lashes and flushed then with plenty of water. Problem solved!! My eyes felt 100% fine again. I needed no drops. This is one reason these groups are so great. You hear things you will never hear any place else that work better in many cases than anything you have ever tried. Eye lashes must become loaded with allergens as it is their job to keep things from falling into eyes so washing the lids and lashes cleans these 'caught' allergens off. I included my eye brows also while I was at it. Relief last until I went out on errand and needed to do it when I came back home again. From now on I'm going to carry small bottle in my purse in small plastic bag in case it should leak, through allergy season. I will have to reapply eye makeup but it is a small price to pay since otherwise I rub eye makeup off anyway scratching at my eyes. Thanks again..Barb --- In , Madeska <madeskv@...> wro > > Hi Barb, > My eyes sometimes make me crazy too. I wash my eyes with baby shampoo in the shower everyday. Also, I use the natural tear solutions to wash them out when they are bothering me. I try not to touch or rub them because that just seems to make them worse. The eye dr. gave me samoles of prescription allergy eye drops but that seemed to just make them worse too- so did restasis-(for dry eyes). > take care, > Val
Guest guest
Incidentally be sure to not get any into eyes since shampoo has sodium laurel sulfate or similar detergents that would be very irritating to eyes. In fact many toothpastes are leaving these ingredients out since it is believed they are too harsh for teeth. > > Val, My eyes were driving me crazy so I picked up a small bottle of > baby shampoo. Guest guest
You may also want to be checked for Demodex mite infestation. They will wreak havoc on the eyelashes causing great distress. For more info on these ugly critters, go to: http://www.emedicine.com/oph/topic517.htm or http://www.demodexsolutions.com/default.asp?all_about_demodex.asp~mainFrame They are definitely a problem and most people don't know of them. Guest guest
This does not sound so bad..when I was told about using the baby shampoo a few years ago, the person said to keep my eyes opened!!! I did this for a little while but when I found out how strong baby shampoo was, I stopped. Keeping ths eyes shut while applying should not harm anyone...I previously thought you all meant to keep the eyes opened!! LOL!! One thing that helps me is to change my make up brand from time to time. I have found I sometimes develop and allergy to my make up and changing seems to cure the problem. > > Val, My eyes were driving me crazy so I picked up a small bottle of > baby shampoo. Guest guest
Okay , but I only have this during Spring and Fall allergy season but I will check just to know about these bugs. > > You may also want to be checked for Demodex mite infestation. Guest guest
, I need to clarify that I do not experience any irritation to my *eye lashes*, that's why it is so surprising. My irritation is to my eyes but washing the lids and lashes as someone suggested here helped to stop my **eye** irritation and itching that I only get during allergy season like right now when there is so much in the air you can see the seeds and flower parts blowing around in air outside. In the midwest anyway. It's easy to understand. The purpose of your eye lashes is to keep things from getting into your eyes. If they are doing their job, they would be catching allergens. I'm sure they can only 'hold' so many allergens before they start to fall off, either blown off my air currents or fall off from gravity. When they get full of allergens probably some air currents blow them right into eyes, so periodically washing lids and lashes to remove these allergens prevents this. --- In , <scottie592002@...> wrote: > > You may also want to be checked for Demodex mite infestation. Guest guest
No. I don't wear mascara either, eye shadow, makeup or lipstick either. I just wear a small ount of eyeliner SOMETIME but the irritation does not come at same time I am wearing eyeliner. I also get irritation on days I'm not wearing makeup. If you don't have eye irritation from allergies, great. I'm just suggesting people who do, try this solution. Irritation feels like it's in eyes but washing the lids and lashes solved it for me anyway. Allergens probably on lashes falling into eyes is what I think FOR ME anyway. > > are you sure it's not the make up bothering any of you? just > wondering because I can't were mascara at all and some lipsticks and > face powders bother me. Guest guest
No, I can go weeks without make-up and still have allergies. Every now and then a brand will bother me but I will switch and be ok. I use Almay right now and some Clinique and it works OK for me. > > > > This does not sound so bad..when I was told about using the baby > > shampoo a few years ago, the person said to keep my eyes opened!!! > I > > did this for a little while but when I found out how strong baby > > shampoo was, I stopped. Guest guest
No, it's mid spring here, started early. I'm sneezing my head off, nose running, skin around it sore, and eyes watering and itchy but washing my lids and lashes helps greatly I've found. I'm so enthused I think I will cut my hair short so I can wash it every night when I get home. I'm probably dragging alot of allergens to bed with me in my hair. Try it if your eyes have allergy symptoms. > > > > are you sure it's not the make up bothering any of you?
Guest guest
this is why I have a problem with allergy testing. I don't have these types of symptoms. I'm really wamting to tie my lack of mucus into this and believe this may explain why I have mcs reations instead. I'm really starting to think that mcs is a reaction to mt airways because I have no protective mucus lineing anymore and everything acts more as a irritant. from what I've read mucus catches everything and thats were our defence system attacks these things and is supposed to kill them off. if you have a severe lack of mucus everything becomes a irritant in the airways, includeing up the nose and bring on a mcs reaction. and this reminds me that I think I read that the sneezeing and nose running and eyes watering is the bodys way of trying to rid your body of allergens. I actually had relief from my extremely dry nose and sinuses for 4 days this spring where I felt I my body was trying to produce some mucus, this may of been my responce to my allergies. than my sinuses started burning a little and next thing I know the infections and inflamation started again. part of my diagnoses of mcs from a aaem doctor was the noted dry rale lungs and I was suffering a mcs attack when I got to his office. something else he noted was that my pupils had dilated. along with the other known effects of balance loss, and problems thinking, ect. makes sence to me that mcs and how bad your reaction is may be based on how much your protective mucus lineing is damaged and lack of being able to produce it. also the kindling wffwcts to the brain as a result of lack of mucus catching these irritants. same with the lung affects. when something gets to my lungs and makes me cough, its a dry cough. if you have no protective mucus to catch these irritants they continiously build up in your body and bring on the inflamation and infections. in my second house I was passing lots of mucus along with the bloody dieerhia. I than went through a detox after being out a while (with several herbs) and coughed up at gobs of mucus that was black clumps mixed with green mucus, than more brown with yellow mucus and finally became clear slim type mucus with little white balls. for a long time afterwards I would sometimes cough up these little white balls. now it's just dry cough. my nose only runs if I have a good cry. I long for moisture in my sinuses and lungs. standing in the shower or outside when its raining is the only time I get any. for a while when I had sleep apnea along with my sinus infections, I would get up and cough up these very dry globs of infected mucus but I rarely have them anymore. my lungs fell like they are on fire and my sinuses burn and I've come to know that these are signs of another bought of infections and I can know I'll be in bed again. the other night, while going through one of these boughts, I had my daughter bring me a milkshake. my body felt very hot inside but she felt my skin and it wasn't. anyway, I slowly sucked down that milkshake and it must of helped 2 things. it seemed to give relief by coating my airways but the coldness of it helped the heat inside me cool down and I fell asleep and slept very well. my sinuses were on fire, it even felt like I had a fever in my eyes and brain, inside my mouth, everywhere inside me was hot and that cold milkshake cooled down my insides. so when I came across that article the other day about cooling the brain, it made sence to me. I also thought about how I fell better when its cold and how I can't take the heat anymore. sometimes I radiate heat and other times it all is inside and when I have these boughts, eventually I start sweating it out but it sometimes takes several days before this starts and I dont get better until I sweat it out. so I guess it starts as inflamation than becomes infection. sometimes it all seems to start in my lungs but sometimes it seems to start in my sinuses or brain. > > > > > > are you sure it's not the make up bothering any of you? >
Guest guest
I've also realized that this lack of mucus is why I the sores up in my nose and sinuses get raw and sorer if I irragate my sinuses to much and I have cut back on this because it's so painful. but guess what the price is of not being able to wash your sinuses very often. more boughts of reaccureing infections. now I was thinking that these reaccureing boughts of infections were maybe from aspergilliosis in my lings, but maybe not because I have been haveing these boughts more often sence I cut back on washing my sinuses. > > > > > > > > are you sure it's not the make up bothering any of you? > > >
Guest guest
actually, my sinuses seem to be the start of the irritation most times that brings on the infections. and I'm fairly sure that irritants aggervate whats already in my body. what I'm not sure of is if I have aspergilliosis or not. however, there are times that I have been breathing threw my mouth and it brings on inflamation and than infection in my lungs without first involveing my sinuses, so I know it can happen from either way. there are also little hair like fingers that line the airways that are supposed to catch these irritants but they also get damaged. I fell like most all my defences are fairly well shot. actually, my sinuses seem to be the start of the irritation most times that brings on the infections. and I'm fairly sure that irritants aggervate whats already in my body. what I'm not sure of is if I have aspergilliosis or not. however, there are times that I have been breathing threw my mouth and it brings on inflamation and than infection in my lungs without first involveing my sinuses, so I know it can happen from either way. there are also little hair like fingers that line the airways that are supposed to catch these irritants but they also get damaged. Guest guest
You may be right. The only thing discussed here that I don't relate to is mcs. I have a very messed up digestive system though which is another route for disease to enter body. I am only person in my family with allergies. Neither of my parents had allergies nor aunts or uncles either, so I feel it's connected to be sick. Of course washing my eye lids and lashes don't relieve my eyes from allergies completely, but relieves the allergy symptoms for longer time than anything else I've tried. I've decided I am going to cut my hair short and shower ever day when I get home to wash off allergens and perhaps neti pot my sinuses to get me through spring. Now my hair takes too long to dry to shower at night. > > this is why I have a problem with allergy testing. Guest guest
Sneezing, runney nose, watering eyes are your immune system fighting as you know. Perhaps your immune system isn't strong enough due to the other health problems you have. Your mold exposure I think is worse than mine. My health was compromised by inhaling a fair amount of lead paint dust and other things. > > actually, my sinuses seem to be the start of the irritation most > times that brings on the infections. and I'm fairly sure that > irritants aggervate whats already in my body. what I'm not sure
Guest guest
I guess I have always had sensitive lungs, even as a young child. And then with the inhalation of different molds in my young married life that must have destroyed the cilia which keeps the bronchii moist. It wasn't till after having some old used moldy furniture in our family room (for 2.5 years)when I started to become ill after exercising. That never happened before the mold. And that was 20 years ago. And I'm still in that condition.

Guest guest
Is this what causes dry rale?the only times I might cough up a little liquid is when I have a lung infection and than its a clear, slimy, bubbley type liquid. do your lungs ever fell like theri on fire? my back side burns around my lung area and I have some type of rash that gets aggervated because I have night sweats in this area sometimes, but the rash is also up the back of my neck and head, and it started to appear with the cns infection so it may be more to do with it than the lungs. it kind of fells like both are envolved sometimes. but theres times I know it's the cns flareing up as it gets stiff and sore around my shoulders and neck and I get a headacke in the back of my head. when it feels more like my lungs, like right now, it's like the lower part of my lungs are on fire. > > > I guess I have always had sensitive lungs, even as a young child. Guest guest
Barb, My hair is pretty long too right now. I keep it pulled back in a twist most of the time. I have realized if I don't, dust and other pollutants get in my hair. I don't want to cut mine because this is the first time since I was a teen that I had long hair. I have not worked in a salon since the mold exposure in 03, so I don't get monthly trims and it grew. As long as my hair is kept up, it does not get all of those nasties in it. I use a really great brush which helps remove dust and such. I also shampoo every day. I shampoo about 3 or 4 hours before bed and if it is not all the way dry, I only need to blow it dry for a few minutes. I have a net scarf, I wear out in my woods when I go for walks. It looks kinda funny but no one sees me anyway and it keeps dust out of my hair. Now I understand why women in the old days wore scarfs..it was to keep stuff out of the hair! Same for the mid eastern women who wore scarfs over their mouths..kept from inhaling germs.....but, lol.. I don't think that was the reason but I am sure thet did not pick up everyone germs with mouths covered. ..it would be nice to have such to make a fashion statement while helping our health!! I too have digestive issues since the mold. I am sick of being sick! I hope you make it through spring too!! > > > > this is why I have a problem with allergy testing.
