Guest guest
Great news about Destiny and the snake and the dentist!! I've just been talking with my service coordinator about getting a sensory integration eval/consult for Aubrie. I'm not totally satisfied with the way our OT has handled it thus far. Our idea is to get a consult with an " expert " in that area who can evaluate how much of a problem with SI Aubrie has and give us some ideas on how to address it. I'm concerned because Aubrie is not tolerating oral motor therapy with the ST at all and she absolutely hates water. Screams thru her bath and hates to be wiped with a wet cloth. I know most babies don't like their face washed, but she seems a bit extreme. I'm worried that if we don't nip it in the bud now, the SI problems will increase. It's good to hear that there is light at the end of the SI tunnel :-) What kind of evals have other kids had to determine their SI issues? Aubrie definitely has lots of quirks and fears that we just take in stride but probably are abnormal if looked at closely. I'm not sure how a therapist decides which fears and quirks are in the " normal " range and which need attention. I know plenty of typical kids with irrational fears and quirks that don't get any special services, so in some areas Aubrie just deserves a break. I'm not sure how to sort it out tho. Ok, sorry for rambling... Bye! Michele W mom to Aubrie (20 mos) CHaRgE and (7 yrs), wife to DJ, in IL westml@...
