Guest guest
Rally to stop practice of handcuffing special needs students SAN ANTONIO - A local grandmother is rallying Northeast ISD parents who have special needs children to attend a board meeting on January 9. The grandmother, Columba , is the guardian of her grandson Cristian. Columba says she wants the district to stop the practice of handcuffing special needs children. She says the district should better train teachers and aids on how to restrain a special needs child, instead of calling NEISD police. News 4 WOAI spoke with the district who stands by its policy, saying if a special needs middle or high school student is hurting themselves or others, they will restrain them with handcuffs. The parents plan to attend the board meeting in January and NEISD says it welcomes the parents. http://www.woai.com/mostpopular/story/Rally-to-stop-practice-of-handcuffing-spec\ ial/QdupVYnjMkyLRiu-07qW-Q.cspx
