TWO THINGS GET TO MY LUNGS, CHEMICALS AND MOLDS, I'VE BEEN NOTICEING

THAT CHEMICALS CAUSE COUGHING WITH THE AIRWAYS CLOSEING UP WHILE NOT

ALL MOLDS DO. I DO HAVE ASTHMA TYPE ATTACKS IF I EXCERT MYSELF WHICH NO

DOUGHT IS DO TO LUNG DAMAGE BUT NO INHALERS HELP THIS AND MOST MAKE MY

LUNGS HURT WORSE.

I'VE WONDERED ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE IN WHAT CAUSES COUGHING OR NOT

COUGHING WITH THE LUNG REACTIONS. WHAT MAY BE A FACTOR, AND THAT I'VE

READ, MAY DEPEND MORE ON WHAT PARTICLES ARE TINY ENOUGH THE MAKE IT

INTO THE DEEPER PARTS OF THE LUNGS. WHICH MAKES SENCE AS MOLD SPORES

ARE TO BIG BUT MYCO'S AND CHEMICAL PARTICLES DO.

Inhalers never worked for me either. I have more of a 'lung

sensitivity' problem than actual asthma. I tried the inhaler before

doing strenuous exercise; it really didn't help. Afterward my lungs

still felt like they weighed 100# each.

I WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVEING ASTHMA WHEN I GOT REALLY SICK WHILE LOOKING

AT THIS SECOND HOME THE FIRST TIME. IT WAS COLD AND WINDY OUTSIDE SO I

THOUGHT I HAD A COLD AND/OR FLU BUT MY DOCTOR DIAGNOSED ASTHMA. THE

SECONE TIME I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ASTHMA THE AIR IN THE MAYO CLINIC WAS

CAUSEING MCS ATTACKS. I TWO DONT FELL LIKE I HAVE THE REAL TYPE OF

ASTHMA, JUST MCS AND REACTIVE LUNGS, BUT MAYBE ITS ALL ABOUT THE SAME

THING? BUT I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW SOME CAN TOLERATE INHALERS WHILE SOME

CANT INLESS ITS DUE TO DRUG SENSATIVITYS.?

Hi Barb,

I think I posted in response to a post about this once before. When my

daughter was young, her doctor was TOTALLY against any cold or

antihistamines as he siad they make people sicker. What I have observe

on my self, it thickens the mucus and then the mucus can't leave the

body, sinuses and etc and an infection begans. I have noted each time

I use zertec that I start to have a bit of infection. If I continue to

use it, the infection worsens. Right now I try to use vey little

antihistimines.

Yes, sorry to have repeated this story but saw the ad again and this

time wrote down exactly what ad said. Before I was just remembering

vaguely what I think it said. I only take a 4 hour version of

antihistamine and only at bedtime if I think my allergy symptoms may

keep me up or cause me trouble at night. Yes, I agree.

Hi Barb!!

I am glad you posted it because I don't think people realize how sick

this med can make a person. I keep my Zertec-D around but I only use

it if I really can't handle my allergies. Since I have been making

myself do without, I don't get as many sinus infections that I was

getting. My breathing has improved as well.

This was worth posting about again!! I am glad you did!!

actually Jane, it's more complacated than that. what I should of said

is all particle matter(irritants)can get to me and it depends on

amounts and what it is and particle size definitly plays a role as to

what makes it deeper into my lungs or up my nose and on to my brain..

from what I understand even bigger particles that get caught(mainly

mold spores with myco's in or on or other particles with myco's

attached)can than cause delayed affects. it says mold and chemicals

on my med. records for mcs, but for me PM can cause my airways can

close up with or without caughing involved. chemicals do cause the

coughing more so and I can relate it because I can usually smell the

chemical, but high doses of other particle matters can also cause the

caughing and I dont allows know what I'm breathing. I can also have

just as bad of affects without caughing at all, I can relate myco's

to this sometimes and I think one moldspore with myco's or just even

one or a few myco's can be enough so maybe caughing is more caused

from amount. myco's cause bad effects to my brain that I dont get

over very quickly. for me, chemical exposure effects are not as long

lasting as myco effects. particle matter can include all kinds of

things so I really cant seperate any effects 100%. just with time

have I noticed some differences in effects between chemicals and

myco toxins. but thinking about it I'd have to say the difference in

caughing or not would be caused by amounts of any irritants/PM for me.

I thought mold was my main problem but I moved into this temporary

apartment that was only one I could find that grew no mold in mold

dish and after I moved it, I felt AWFUL!!!! I had chest pains and

chest pressure and could hardly make it up the stairs here. Turns

out there was an enomous amount of 'dust' here. Who knows what was

in it! I guess I could have sent a sample off for testing to see if

dust carrying mycos since dirtiest area was where window air

conditioner had been. I had them remove it. It was those old

radiators I went on and on about and showed pictures of.

May told me where to get tool to clean them out with and finally I

did that but I was in apt a couple of months before I did. After I

did, chest pain and pressure cleared up. So now I know place has to

be CLEAN, not just mold free. However I imagine there was alot of

dead mold and mycos on dust particles. We have discussed that here

before - dust and very small particles carrying mycos right into

blood stream. I thought move had injured my heart or something but

it is back to okay now that place has been cleaned up so learned

something new. You all have said it many times, mainly Carl, but it

isn't just about doing culture plates. Although I will still do

them ALSO. I just did the mold plate test and that was all and took

apt. I need to do visual check as well and SMELL test. There are

very smelly areas in building, small building and bedroom is smelly

so put my bed in living room instead. Even though it seems like a

waste of time. However I made mistake on a place I only have month

to month lease on so lesson needed to be learned so I can pick

permanent place or longer lease place better. I need to do visible

inspection to make sure it is in good repair and see how much

cleaning needs to be done and if it can be done...sometime it might

be things you cannot reach.

This experience lines up with article I posted a few months ago that

said that increase incident of heart disease in areas with high

pollution and if they move people with heart disease to areas of low

outdoor pollution, symptoms of heart disease clear up quickly, i.e.

patient improves quickly, showing a very close connection between

what you breath in and your heart.
