Oh my gosh. This has to be unbearable for you. I don't remember. Is she

ten days post surgery? Is she on meds that might be causing constipation? Does

she have a urinary tract infection? What have the MDs been telling you thus

far. if I missed this ... please forgive. Randee

Sounds like bladder spasms to me... used to do that when he had a

catheter in after uro surgeries and it would irritate the bladder. I know kids

with spastic bladders can do it too. Has she ever had a urodynamics study

done to check bladder functioning? Good luck figuring it out!

Could she be having bladder spasms, kidney reflux, or spasms intermittently in

different areas? After my untetetherings, I had terrible bladder spasms, back

and leg spasms. Have you been watching her intake and output of fluids?

Toddler in Pain? HELP!

HI! I posted last week but only got 1 response... here we are 10 days

later and my dd is still having alot of pain. She is crying all the

time now. I sent emails to her neuro, NS and Urologist... but it

seems so bad I am taking her to a Pediatrician later today.

For all the parents out there... what sort of " diaper " pain did your

babies have? My dd is 2.5 years old and keeps crying about " ouwie in

diaper " and at one point today was on her tippy toes screaming in

pain, I thought she had a bad bowel movement... but when I changed

her it was only wet.

She had a tummy flu 10 days ago and I thought that was why she was in

pain and crying but has been over that for 7 days and is still crying

in pain. SHe lifts her left foot as she crys.

Can anyone help me with what they saw in their child and what I should

be looking for?

THANKS!!!

Jen and Luli

Has she been having regular bowel movements? Is she

peeing a good amount? She might be constipated or

retaining fluids (not emptying her bladder) which can

cause spasms. Was she on a lot of pain meds after

surgery? Pain meds can easily cause constipation.

Hope this helps and good luck at the pediatrician's!

Sounds like a UTI with stinging and burning...I think you mentioned

that she was crying even when dry (probably starting to urinate and

feeling the burn and holding it) Hope the ped can help.

Sorry I didn't see your original post. I hope you have gotten some

help from others posting here.

If not, it definitely sounds like your dd has a UTI - after my

daughter had the flu where her fluid intake wasn't as much as usual,

she developed a urinary tract infection (UTI) and screamed bloody

murder every time she had a pee - she went for a very long time with

a dry diaper and then when she started screaming she had to be

changed immediately after - this was a great indication that she had

a UTI - we took her to our family doctor and was given urine test for

bacteria count and sure enough that is what she had. She

unfortunately had an infection that penicillin didn't work for(it

takes 2 days for the penicillin to kick in and it never did so back

to the doctor's office we went) - we actually had to put her on

sulpha drugs to get rid of the infection. She was prescribed sulpha

drugs for 7 days and then we submitted another urine analysis a week

after her meds were done and found that the first treatment didn't

wipe out the bug completely and had another round of meds... 2nd

round was successful and we are back to normal.
