Guest guest
I just looked at this information and can't believe that Lancaster, PA is number 13! That's were all the Amish live which is just, about a 45 min. drive, north from me. Sue Do you live in one of 25 worst counties in the U.S. for air pollution? I do. It would be interesting to find out whether there is more incidence of MCS in these areas. So far they had recently added diabetes and heart disease. (I'm posting some of this info with links because some of these things are buried in article and it might be missed.) Worst 25 cities. I live in Hamilton County, OH, listed as number 10, ahead of Cook County (Chicago-#17) and New York county (#20) and have heart disease, and 3 yrs ago cancerous growth: <_http://lungaction.http://lungahttp://lungactihttp:_ (http://lungaction.org/reports/sota07_table3a.html?) > ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
That is shocking that Amish country would be so high! They don't drive cars or use power! I checked my area out and it does not look too bad except the cardo stats looked very high...But, we usually rank high for bad allergy area, pollen and other such is our big problem. Here is ours: http://lungaction.org/reports/sota07_county.html > > > I just looked at this information and can't believe that Lancaster, PA is > number 13! Guest guest
Perhaps caused by farming activity or something other than plants or automobiles. Also I think 'terrain' effects this as my county in Ohio was listed ahead of Chicago and New York but those areas are flat and wind currents may carry pollution out more. Mountains may block that. Many factors. Also I assume mold spores and other biological pollutants are included as wouldn't they be included in particulate matter? I think it measures everything that is in the air, everything they can measure anyway. Any corrections. Not sure about how this is measured but if they measure particle size below .3 that would include mold spores. " Dust bowls " would have high particulate count I would think, dry dusty locations that breeze picks up dusty dirt easily and makes if airbourne. I think it measures anything you wouldn't want to breath in. > > > I just looked at this information and can't believe that Lancaster, PA is > number 13! Guest guest
Oh geez, Cincinnati made this list of one of worst for allergies too! > > Here is the worst allergy cities... > http://www.webmd.com/allergies/news/20020405/worst-cities-for- allergy-sufferers
Guest guest
I don't know how true this is but I was told the reason why our area is so bad for allergies is because we sit below hills and stuff gets trapped..there are mountains not too far away... > > > > > > I just looked at this information and can't believe that > Lancaster, PA is > > number 13! Guest guest
It seems to be a number of factor together and that can be a factor. Cincinnati is on the northern border of Kentucky, which is described as " the rolling hills of Kentucky " , but are actually quite steep here, some streets kind-of San Francisco style roller coaster type, with the Ohio River being in the center which is quite polluted, and there is a fair amount of industry here also with headquarters of soap maker Proctor and Gamble and industry giant GE, but to cities like Chicago that would be nothing so must be the combination of factors. I lived in Chicago for 12 years and is it very flat, as is New York, also they both border large mass of water which is even flatter so you get some very strong winds off of these waters which would probably help " air " out the cities. However they are listed in the 25 worst but surprised me that Cinci was listed as worse so must be effect of hills surrounding the polluted Ohio River...keeps whatever comes off of river around here! > > I don't know how true this is but I was told the reason why our area
