Guest guest
Parent outraged by board's mould attitude Editorial - Thursday, April 19, 2007 Sarnia Observer - Sarnia,ON,Canada http://www.theobserver.ca/webapp/sitepages/content.asp? contentid=493685 & catname=Editorial & classif= Sir: I am outraged. My Grade 2, seven-year-old daughter attends Lansdowne Public School. This school is at the centre of most of the discussions and outcry of the mould crisis. She started Junior Kindergarten at Lansdowne. In the 2007/08 school year, she will have her class in the portable. This situation has me very afraid for her life her safety and her health in the future. She has had chronic ear infections, a runny nose, stuffiness, a cough and sore throats from the start of school. She has had medical treatments continually from these problems and has missed school days. My outrage (is focused) at the Lambton Kent District School Board for its attitude about the mould problem, plus the bungling of the tests done and repairs or recommendations. Gayle Stucke, as director and spokesperson, didn't reassure parents. The board totally failed to hear our concerns and accept the parents who want the port-a-pac removed, torn down, burned or anything else to make it disappear. The money that has already been wasted could have built a new port-a-pac long ago. We feel that this insidious growth should not be allowed to damage the quality of our children's lives. Schools are supposed to be healthy, safe places that house our children every day. It's too bad that the board offices are not in our port-a-pac as I wonder how soon action would be taken.
