Guest guest
Director of education's remarks on mould problem 'irresponsible' Editorial - Thursday, April 19, 2007 @ 16:00 Sarnia Observer - Sarnia,ON,Canada http://www.theobserver.ca/webapp/sitepages/content.asp? contentid=493686 & catname=Editorial & classif= Sir: I am appalled at the statement made by education director Gayle Stucke, " Mould doesn't make you sick. These people are looking for problems. " What an irresponsible statement that comes from an educator responsible for the health and safety of not only the teaching staff but also our children. Of course mould can make you sick. There are a number of different varieties of which some are toxic. As a career health and safety activist and former Ministry of Labour Inspector, it has long been a battle to get employers to recognize hazards in the workplace and respond quickly to have them addressed and resolved to ensure all are protected. The issue of toxic mould has been around for a while so I find it quite alarming for an education director to have this opinion. For the health and safety of all affected she should resign immediately or at the very least be removed from her duties. Guest guest
There are those people out there who are not affected by mold and so they think no one else is. But anyone who read just a little would know it affects most people with asthma. And asthma is on the rise.
