Guest guest
Third Plantation child tests positive for toxic exposure Parent warns of long-term danger to health The Lafayette Daily Advertiser, LA aharris@... http://www.theadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article? AID=/20070419/NEWS01/70419027 A third child that attended Plantation Elementary School has tested positive for exposure to a toxin produced by the type of mold found in the school's band room recently. Higginbotham said Thursday morning that her daughter, who has been attending Ernest Gallet since April 4 because of her symptoms of mold exposure, tested positive for exposure to trichothecene Thursday. Higginbotham's daughter attended Plantation Elementary School for the gifted and talented program, but is zoned for Ernest Gallet. Higginbotham said she does not know where she would take her child if they were zoned for Plantation Elementary. Higginbotham said her concern is that exposure to this type of toxin causes symptoms that do not go away for years, can cause long- lasting damage and break-down the immune system. Another Plantation parent also reported this morning that her child tested positive for trichothecene.
