Spectrum of Hope/HOPE ACADEMY Summer Program

Spectrum of Hope, LLC is offering a SUMMER PROGRAM in our HOPE ACADEMY!

Hope Academy was established in May of 2011. It is the ¡§next step¡¨ for

children preparing to enter into a typical classroom or who are already

participating in typical or inclusion classes. The focus is primarily on social

skills and functional communication as well as academics and cognitive skills.

The ratio of teacher to client is 1 to 3 or 2 to 5 or higher depending on the

activity.

Certified teachers and Board Certified Behavior Analysts direct and supervise

the classrooms in conjunction with a specially trained staff. Group instruction

topics have been selected and modified to apply to all the children

participating, while still taking their individual skill and abilities into

consideration.

Academic curriculums are based on the TEKS and curriculums such as Math U See,

Headsprout, and Handwriting Without Tears assist in developing goals and skills

for the children. The larger ratios require the children to initiate and

maintain interactions with minimal prompting and guidance.

In addition to teaching the children to attend and respond to ONE lead teacher

in increasing ratio sizes and the least restrictive environment, they will also

be working on learning skills seen in typical classrooms. These skills include

raising their hands appropriately, waiting their turns, being the teacher¡¦s

helper, working independently on individual/group assignments, staying on task,

group testing, and responding to and learning from their peers.

Finally all children in this program will continue to receive intensive services

for their individual goals during pull out sessions with one of the highly

trained staff every day.

The Hope Academy is a terrific option for children who:

„X Are verbal or who have functional communication

„X Are participating in a larger ratio classroom currently

„X Have emerging reading, writing and math skills

„X Have minimal behavioral issues

The first summer session will run May 31, 2012 - June 28, 2012.

The second session will begin July 10 ¡VAugust 10, 2012. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm.
