Guest guest
And if you pick up a copy of Dr. Shoemaker's book, Mold Warriors (at moldwarriors.com) it explains why only a small number of us have reactions - from his research, a quarter of us don't produce the antibodies that remove biotoxins from our bodies to protect us. He does have some strategies for working with that which have been tremendously helpful to many 'moldies' who are members on this list. ~Haley joseph salowitz <josephsalowitz@...> wrote: > > > Hello, > > I have a serious problem and not sure what to do at this point. Through the process of elimination, I traced my most recent toxic reactions to a window air conditioner, also. After buying a new air conditioner, for my bedroom, three years in a row, I finally realized that , for reasons that I may never figure out, these air conditioners were making me sick. Last year's air conditioner took only one month before it began growing enough mold to make me sick. This year I am hoping to get by on the two other air conditioners in my apartment, which I have no reaction to. So far, luckily, it has been a very cool, almost cold, summer in New York City, where I live. I would like to share another observation, from my " sick building " reactions over the past six years. I have seen, in myself, and my father, how our bodies have " learned " to react to mold and mycotoxin exposures, whenever we are re-exposed to these triggers. Our body's appear to need ever smaller and smaller time periods of exposure to these triggers, to produce a reaction. Based on my personal history, I am bringing your attention to the fact that, whereas in YOUR past, you needed to LIVE in a " sick " house to get a toxic reaction, all that is necessary, NOW, is for you to enter your home for 5 minutes to pick up your mail, or check your electric meter etc. to produce the same extreme toxic reaction in your body. Your body's reaction, once begun, might last for days, or weeks, before your body stops reacting to your 5 minute exposure. Remember, its NOT the material you were exposed to, that causes illness. If it were, then EVERYONE in the room would get sick. Its YOUR BODY'S REACTION to that material that is making you sick. If this sounds " unreasonable " to you, then you have just learned your first lesson in this new world you have become a part of. All of us who suffer, have a very " unreasonable " illness. Therefore, don't expect anyone, even your closest friends and relatives to see the " reason " in our complaints. Our insistence that we are physically sick, only makes the " normals " think we are mentally ill. After all, they are not sick, when with you, in the same room. The more medically inclined, of your friends, and your doctors, will try to persuade you to " realize " that you just have allergies or asthma, not some " fictional " toxic illness. Don't believe them. I have had allergies and asthma since the age of 9 (I'm now 64). What we have is something different. Asthma and allergy medications will only give partisl relief, at best. The only " treatment " for what we have, is avoidance of places and situations that trigger our toxic reaction. Please remember, after your 5 minutes back in your house, your body starts thinking that you are living there again, and starts a reaction that will make you as sick as when you WERE living there. We are NEVER CURED of our potential to have a reaction that makes us sick. If you walk into someone's home, and you sense some familiar illness " trigger " , you have two choices. You can either politely try to explain why you can not stay, so as to not hurt their feelings. This 5 minute courtesy, on your part, will make you sick as a dog for 2 weeks. Or, you can immediately turn, and run out the door, and call them on your cell phone, with your explanation why you were so discourteous, and you may only be sick for a day or two, from your 30 second exposure. Its your choice. My misfortune was to have been raised to be very courteous. I am trying to break that habit. Remember, they are going to think we are " NUTS " , whether we are courteous or not, after we give them our explanation. You have not exactly entered the " Twilight Zone " . But, you have entered a new phase of your life, in which you now have to live a " Defensive Environmental Life " , in the same sense that you are a " Defensive Driver " , because you want to survive the experience of driving. Guest guest
To save what is left of our health we are forced to live in trailers, tents and temporary housing, to constantly move from place to place draining away what is left of our life savings. This is why many of us remain homeless, living out of plastic bags that fill our cars. We are not the new street people, we are the new mold people, the new " bag ladies " in desperate search for environmentally safe affordable housing. Our cars become our shopping carts, lugging whatever few remaining belongings we have that are necessary for our daily survival. No one should be forced to have to make the choice of staying in a sickbuilding and risk the chance of becoming permanently disabled or end up homeless. They have sanctuaries for animals, too bad there does not exist a sanctuary for those of us to turn, a healthy building for us to live, even if temporary, where we can be safe and recover. Build it and we shall come. Guest guest
This did help me in the sense I now know for sure what is going on. I do have a couple questions though. You mentioned it can take years for the spores/toxins to break down naturally. How long would that be? And is there something that can be done to significantly speed up the process? Maybe in a month or two. What about high concentrations of ozone at different intervals. What about fogging the house with borax peroxide, or white vinegar? How about another microbe to literally eat the spores and toxins or at least make them less toxic? Also about the book from moldwarriers.com Without running out to get the book can someone tell me the protocol that may give me relief? Is it a supplement? Can anyone here corroborate that this has worked? Not only is this stuff in my home, it's now at my office, car (brand new SUV), and kids house where I went to get away from the madness sporadically. I liked having nice things and this is a nightmare but must see my kids again soon. How can I see my kids? What if I have them over my new place or outside somewhere? Thanks so much, Glenn () ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
