Guest guest
" we need to take good supplements, especially a multi-vitamin with minerals, calcium, and perhaps extra B+, E and C, as well as others we select that could include magnesium, soy isoflavones, potassium, DHEA . . . Dear Susie, I just wanted to pass on my personal experience about DHEA. I had read a book that said it was the " fountain of youth " supplement, that it made you feel and look younger than your years, so I started taking it. I was taking 25mg twice a day, which is not a particularily high dose. A few months later, I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. I go back to the book and look more carefully, and sure enough, it says it increases your estrogen, and can cause breast cancer to grow more rapidly. Just please be careful with this. So many herbs and supplements are available over the counter, and we treat ourselves without knowing all the facts. I'm not saying the DHEA gave me the breast cancer. I have a very strong hereditary factor, with my mom, 4 aunts, and 5 first cousins who have had it, besides myself. I think I already had it, but the DHEA made it start to grow aggressively. I would hate for anyone to have to go through what I have in the past nine months. As an afternote, I am doing great on the insulin and glucophage and low carbs. I was 96 this AM. I'm still having some highs and lows as I get it fine tuned, but I feel so much better than I did about a month ago when I was in the two and three hundreds all the time. My prayers are with those in Oklahoma and Kansas as they sort through the devastation today, and start putting their lives back together after the tornados. I braced myself for the muscles, body hair, the randiness .... never noticed any difference. That is how it is with most supplements and me .... \ I have read that the amount of DHEA in the supplements is actually not sufficient to make any changes in adult humans. (The doses they used in rodents that produced such remarkable results were many times as strong, proportionally.) But if there is any chance that a supplement *or prescribed medicine* will cause us more harm than help, we should look for safer alternatives. I am glad that you are doing so well now. Guest guest
Ok, Susie...here's another one! I told you fbs was 141. Took insulin, had breakfast (hanburger pattie with melted cheese) Just tested for lunch. I was 177! (Still under tornado warnings til 4 pm (they extended it!) I need to go to the store. Was planning to make mini cheese cakes in paper cups using Splenda for tonight's support group meeting, but I don't know. Got the sugar busters book and have scanned it, but it seems to have an awful lot of carbs. But they said one diabetic on insulin after 60 days had lost 30 lbs and gone off insulin! Sure would love to do that! Toni OtterCritter wrote: > ÿþ<

Guest guest
I was on Sugarbusters for a while mainly because it was written in New Orleans and I am from NO and all my friends were on it. I actually gained weight on it but loved some of the recipes that I found on the website a while back. The recipes really are New Orleans style. They started an IRQ chatroom but whenever I went in it no one was there. I finally gave up on it because of the weight gain and I was eating too many carbs. Of course, that was also before my diabetic days. Heller Bill & Toni Fuller wrote: > > > > Ok, Susie...here's another one! I told you fbs was 141.
