Guest guest
Hi Nina I know a lady that lives in Cape Town, I have written to her for some information. Your story is sad, babies are so beautiful, such a shame to spoil them like that. I know of people here in NZ that will not even let Dr's administer the Vit K injection at birth. I am now starting to believe these " immunisations " might have long lasting affects on us. I think the mercury issue is like the Romans and lead pipes, later generations will looks back on us with absolute horror ! The sad part about this is we are not learning, my kids are 9 and 11 and both have amalgam fillings. . [ ] need a doctor Dear Group, I am new at both the group and at e-mail. I have a son they say is borderline autistic. He is 2 1/2 and is starting to talk, relate and play. but the process is very slow. I believe that all his trouble started from a high dosage of mercury via the vaccines. My husband was transferred to Nigeria Africa a year ago and took my son for vaccines before our travels. The doctor convinced him to give all the vaccines at one time as he put it " the immune system only had to respond once. " So he got the following: polio, DPT, Hib, MMR, yellow fever and varessela., quite a dosage for a 1 year old. After receiving these vaccines he cried for two hours straight. Very slowly I lost my lovely, kind, sweet, bright boy, and slowly he lost any speech he had. I am pleased with the progress he is making right now, but I would like to do detox on him. The problem is, we like in Nigeria, and there are no doctors or even Labs that can do any of this kind of testing. I know his mercury levels are elevated because I did a urine test before we left the US. The nearest place that could support us medically is South Africa. So does anybody know of a Doctor in Cape Town, South Africa who is familiar with detoxing in autistic children. Also, I tried cilantro for three day and my son has been improving at faster rate since. The only problem is I don't know if it is the therapy (greenspan) which I started round about the same time or it is the cilantro, two month ago---is anybody familiar with cilantro-- I know Dr Amy Holmes advises against it, but being in a country where medical assistance is poor, it seem the next best alterative as I believe my son had mercury poisoning. Please, Please, help, as the sooner we do this the more likelihood we had of recovering him. Thank you all, you have been a great help. PS. I believe in the next few years the so called medical establishment will proof us right. Personally, I think they are scared of having a run-on vaccines because of their own negligence to make the vaccines safe for the children. Best wishes to everybody, NINA
Guest guest
**Hi, Nina, I can understand how desperately upset you are about your child.I live in Johannesburg & last visited Cape Town in 1985-I don't know anyone there, either socially or in the medical field, let alone anyone specialising in autism/detoxing. Perhaps the answer is to go to one of the big teaching hospitals? I'll see if I can ask anyone who might have any information, & get back to you as soon as possible-but I must admit that no obvious answer springs to my mind. Take care, Lucille Re: FW: [ ] need a doctor Group, I am new at both the group and at e-mail. I have a son they say is borderline autistic. Guest guest
Rocco, I believe I speak for many in this group (including myself) who know where you are and where you have been. Your list of symptoms looks like I could have written it.

A suggestion - have you yet read " The Testosterone Syndrome " by Dr. Eugene R. Shippen?

If not please do, and if you are willing to travel why not go up to PA to see the doc himself?

Hang in there.
A
Guest guest
Rocco,

You have many sympathizers here in this club! We know what you're going through. Hang in there and try to keep a positive attitude. Take some Zinc and Vitamin E - it does help!

My suggestion for an Endocriniologist who could help you would be to go to a University Medical Center. Physicians in these settings see many unusual cases and seem to be more interested in actually treating the patient than in getting another insurance claim form pushed through the system. My University physician and the interns spent 2 1/2 hours with me on my first appointment! Amazing! In addition, the teaching role of these institutions adds an extra purpose for evaluating and treating patients. Since your Hypo is secondary (as is mine), I would suggest starting with a pituitary specialist. If that fails, try to find a female Endo. Women MDs are more sensitive and understanding about hormonal issues than are male MDs, since they have had to deal with hormones since puberty. Most males simply cannot relate....

Keep us posted, and if you need some encouragement, you know where to come!

K4
Guest guest
Yes, I have read Doctor Shippens book. it's an excellent book for understanding this condition. I basically understand the hormone levels my main problem is finding a good doctor to treat my condition.

I am considering to setup an appointment with Shippen. However, I wanted to see if the club members recommended other doctors.

aalgazi - I read many of your postings. How did you get your levels to 1,700 ng/dl?

Rocco
Guest guest
Hi Kaitain4,

Thanks for your understanding and reply.

Last year I went to s Hopkins University medical center in Baltimore, MD and met with a female endocrinologist. She recommended that I use Androgel. When I told her that I used Androgel previously and it wasn't effective, she just ignored my reply and said I need to use a higher dose. I tried using androgel again and had the same negative results. Also, this female endocrinologist kept traveling and staying for months at various countries which made her unavailable to me. In addition, her office rarely returned my calls. It was very frustrating. I thought JHU medical center was suppose to be the best. It took me a long time (4 months) to see this doctor. However, because of her unavaliability and the poor professional capabilities of her office staff, I had to move on and find another doctor.

In August 2001 I met with another doctor. Last week, after receiving the results of my lab work, I sent him an email message saying that I am worse now than when I first met with him. He said for me to make another appointment to see him. I am too tired to travel. Also, it seems as though I am back to square one with this doctor. I am hesitant to setup another appointment to see him.

I want to know if there is a doctor who is better. The last two weeks I have been very tired. So, today I joined the club. However, before joining, last week, I read many postings. I have a basic understanding of the levels from my years of experience with dealing with other doctors and reading information posted on the web. In addition, I read Dr. Shippens book. I think his book is excellent. However, I need to find an aggresive thinking doctor who is a hormone specialist. I really need to improve my quality of life. I have been very low these last couple of days.

Rocco
Guest guest
Rocco - Glad you read the book too. I do reccommend Shippen for someone like you, seeing as you have been through many paths already. i found him very informative and understanding. I do caution you that he will take time to tear apart the problem and then build you back up slowly. In your case a combo of Clomid or HCG might either test your hormonal axis or even upstart it.
If you are looking locally can you see about s Hopkins?
As far as the 1700+ ng/dl reading goes, I wouldn't advise keeping them up that high again. It seems that my local U Dr. wam\nted to see what a shot of Depo-T would do for me over a few weeks time. He must have over shot me and sent me on a roller coaster, which I'm in the process of trying to stabilize. I had new blood taken this AM to assess a new baseline after all external hormones were out of my system. Dr. Shippen asked me try another run of Clomid stim to see how the HPT axis responds when I'm " clean " .

In the meantime no one liked me with my low T feelings and I'm going to gradually go back to an external compounded T cream until I get back the new blood work and the Doc makes his decision about what's next.

Stay with it.
Cheers
A
Guest guest
Hi Aalgazi,

Thanks for your reply, understanding, encouragement, and advice. It is appreciated.

Last year I went to s Hopkins University medical center in Baltimore, MD and met with a female endocrinologist. She recommended that I use Androgel. So, JHU medical center wasn't very helpful.

No, I wouldn't recommend serum testosterone levels in the 1,700's ng/dl range. I think 800 to 1,000 ng/dl is a good range. However, this range may be to high for some individuals. So, the range varies for each individual. As Shippen's book states, some individuals function well at 300, 400 or 500. Each individual is different and each individual has to find the level that is best for them to function and improve their quality of life. Whatever level that is, they need to find it and maintain those levels.

Where are you getting the Testosterone creme? Is Dr. Shippen prescribing it? Or, are you getting the creme from ReNew?

I would like to have a Clomid stimulation test. I think 50 mgs. of Clomid in the morning and 50 mgs. could help. Also, I think I can benefit from using HCG. In addition, I think Arimidex may be of help. However, my current doctor has not suggest that I have a Clomid stimulation test or that I should use Clomid, HCG, or Arimidex.

I need to find an aggressive thinking doctor who is willing to try different tests and medications.

Believe me, I know what it's like to have low testosterone levels. Guest guest
Rocco - My expirience with a s Hopkins Endo started well and ended poorly too; it's one of the reasons I went to see Shippen. I've been to two endo's, a uro, internist and Shippen. I guess I saved the best for last (oh yeah, almost forgot I've gone back to chiropractic too).

The creme is from Renew(for now & depending on what Shippen says) and if my local uro will move from shots to AG.

I think the stim tests are right for you too. The only guy I know who does this or is willing to help other Dr's do it is Shippen - everyone else I've talked to is uninformed or has no balls (no pun intended).

I'm not sure yet what my ideal T levels are yet bout I've been down to 170 and as high as 418 on my own and felt like crap. I wouldn't be surprised given my response north of 1700 that I'm going to find fertile ground somewhere around the 1000 mark +/- 100.

I find that an area with thin skin, that is shaved if needed, and has been scrubed with soap, water or alcohol makes for better T uptake. It takes a few days for a good base level to take hold before I feel the effects of an application.

We can have a discussion on good " thin-skin " sites (open to all). Everyone's different but I find the places where I can see " blue " veins to be effective: inside wrists to arm pits, backs of knees, upper hip/lower waist, parts of ankles and upper feet. Sometimes a little dab on eye lids or scrotal area seems to alliviate a the lulls.

Any one else got good ideas?

Cheers,
A
Guest guest
Hi Rocco,

It doesn't sound like you need an aggressive doc just someone with on open mind.

Since you had some success with injections, I suspect you'd do okay with small, frequent injections instead of the 1 per month routine. Sometimes I think that you get a negative response on more frequent injections because the doc assumes you mean using a higher total dose. In other words, I think it may help to be clear that you would like to try say...100mg/5 days or 140mg/7 days instead of 200mg/10 days.

It sounds like you might need a level that is a) higher than you've had before and more stable. If you are having trouble getting rx'd frequent injections, using the implantable pellets might be worth looking into. I'd like to see more data on how stable the levels produced are but the therapy looks like it might be suitable with implants every 3 months.

I put some contact info on the pellets at message 2785. The company might be able to give a referral to physicians using their products. It might be worth placing some phone calls.

Good luck,
Brad
Guest guest
I too was searching for a physician. There was nobody local. I found the website www.cenegenics.com (Las Vegas, NV) and really liked the information I saw there. I made an appointment and saw their physician. It wasn't cheap, but I found someone who understood my issues. He wasn't an Endocrinologist or Urologist, but he seemed very well trained in the subject. He spent about three hours with me going over very detailed blood work that he had ordered. I took the information back to my local physician who is now treating me. Good luck. Guest guest
After five long years we are about to go to trial. I need a Doctor I can send our medical records to for evaluation as to the effects of mold on our medical conditons. I have heard you all talk about a Dr. Shumaker (I think that's how you spell it) and I am wondering if he is the man I need. If so how do I contact him. If he is not the man can you point me in the right direction. I appreciate any help any one can give me. Jane
Guest guest
We've used Dr. Gray out of Benson, AZ and are very happy with his work. His CV is topnotch. We haven't been to trial yet, but his deposition work was excellent. 520-586-9111 - ask for Shana. > > After five long years we are about to go to trial.
