Guest guest
Here is an air conditioner that says it has three stage filtration. I've found a couple of others who advertise good filtration. Perhaps the word is getting out to a few people. Pricey of course. However I think a inexpensive air conditioner could add filtration without adding alot of extra cost but the ones I've been seeing are pricey. http://www.allergybuyersclubshopping.com /ac-td-t32g.html http://www.allergybuyersclubshopping.com/ac-td-t32g.html
Guest guest
The crucial issue with window style air conditioners seems to especially be keeping the indoor cooling coil (the one that cools the indoor air) clean. So I think an air conditioner doesn't need to be expensive so much as it needs to be easily openable and cleanable. Someday, a big selling point will be if this might be doable from inside of a building without needing to physically 'bring the AC in' or take it down to a backyard or ?? for periodic semi-disassembly and cleaning. Pro-active intake vent pre-filtration helps prevent gunk from getting into the cooling coils to potentially get moldy but the fact that filters limit airflow is significant in that that drag is going to also limit cooling capacity and have the potential for hardware overload if the person adds on so much more filtration that the airflow is cut by more than (I'm guessing here) 20 or 30%? Filters should NOT be added to the outdoor portion of the heat exchange loop, just the inside portion. However, the outside coils can and should be washed aggressively (power washing maybe even? If care is taken to keep the electronics dry) to blast the gunk that collects in them out of the exterior portion of the coils. If anyone wants to add to this, I'm trying to get a good idea of what the general steps one might take in AC cleaning are.
Guest guest
Well, that's a good idea also, to have them made to be easily cleaned, as refrigerator evaporative pads also. Although, it seems adding an adequate filter shouldn't drive price up. However the ones I have linked comes set up with filters that are better quality than usual and hopefully, we would assume, manufacturer has designed it for adequate air flow or it would be a design flow, so these should cool fine. --- In , LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> wrote: > > The crucial issue with window style air conditioners seems to especially be > keeping the indoor cooling coil (the one that cools the indoor air) clean. > >
