The FDA said the candy, a product of China that was distributed by Tristar Food Wholesale of Jersey City, N.J., presents a serious or life-threatening health risk for people who have an allergic sensitivity to peanuts. The FDA said the candy also contains excess amounts of aflatoxins -- by-products of certain fungi that can be potential carcinogens. The recalled Ferrari Chocolates were distributed in 280-gram and 240- gram boxes in New York City and New Jersey. Consumers can contact the company at 201-938-2590. Guest guest
There is a trend here with food products from China. Most of the pet food problems which are continuing to include more and more products were ingredients from China. One wonders if they are sending their junk to us or are their standards just very lax? Unfortunately we usually aren't privy to know where product ingredients come from. Good to deal with your local farmer perhaps. --- In , " tigerpaw2c " <tigerpaw2c@...> wrote: > > Published: June 7, 2007 at 1:48 PM E-mail Story | Print Preview | > License > > http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Science/2007/06/07/ferrari_chocolate_can > dy_is_recalled/5468/ > >
