Guest guest
Well, school is going very well for Sydney. Despite the absolute meltdown she had this morning, she had the best day today. She attended each of her DTT sessions for 2.5 hours, and today was the first time she sat down at the table and ate her lunch. She also did her first worksheet cutout project today. I'm going to treasure this always, although I am certain that the teacher helped with the scissors. With the exception of one day, I've been getting small blurbs in the communication notebook as expected. I really look forward to the summaries. Yesterday's stated that Sydney didn't want her own juice but REALLY wanted some other child's milk. Gee, I've raised a klepto child by depriving her of milk..... THE BUS. Boy, was that a disaster. Hey Salli - - you know how Putter always says " bye bye " to Lou? Well, " buh-bye " is one of Sydney's VERY few words, as I've mentioned before, and Monday was to be the first day of riding the bus. Shaun and I took her outside to wait for the bus. She was playing happily in the front yard for awhile, but then started taking our hands to the minivan. " Buh bye, " she would say, and thanks to Putter, I was able to infer that she actually means, " let's go bye bye " , as in let's leave now. She always says it at my MIL's house, but I thought she meant it more to my MIL the way Putter does to Lou, than to me. But now I think she means it to me as " let's go " . Buh-bye WITH her in tow. Well, I made the mistake of seating her in the car while we waited for the bus. It FINALLY showed up after 13 minutes, and Shaun tried to load the carseat on the bus. However, the seatbelts were too loose, and the seat wouldn't stay put. The driver suggested we just belt her in. Shaun looked horrified -- " but she's not at the weight limit yet! " The driver just shrugged. I was in a battle with Syd, trying to peel her out of the minivan. " NAY NAY NAY!! " on and on and on......... She is about 34 lbs. I am nearly 5 times her weight. I was not necessarily winning this battle, much to my surprise. Shaun and I exchanged looks, and it was decided that we would drive her. Not just today, but everyday. Correction: *I* would be driving them. I've decided to fatten them up to 40 lbs and see if they will take the bus then. ) Either that, or I will try again in the new year. (Real good lesson we're teaching her, huh?) Madison will begin this coming Monday. Her notebook and color/sign is all ready. She's ORANGE <yuck> and she is a turtle symbol. SHEESH, of ALL things!!! Turtles are SLOW. I hope it's not an omen. I like the pink butterfly Syd has much more. Now, for my vaccine question. At Syd's checkup from hell last week, the doctor wrote a form out for two vaccines we're due for. The Hepatitis A, and the " Pneumo conj. " , both in 0.5 mL. I took the form without question, but did not head for the lab to get the shots. Anyone know anything about these shots and if I should avoid them? We are all caught up on the MMR and DPT stuff, oh freaking joy, so too late for that, obviously. I don't know if I should be avoiding ALL vaccines though. While I don't discredit the thimerosal theory, I don't subscribe to it 100% either. I'm not sure what to do. Ideas? I believe these two vaccines are totally up to me. The Hep A is a recent addition to the list. I remember my regular pedi mentioning that last time. The Pneumo Conj they list is probably some flu shot, bu I am not sure. Oh, and although the day did start out REALLY crappy, it turned out to be better. I left the house with Madison and we just cruised around, went walking around the mall, and then hit the playground. Then we picked up Syd, and we came home. In the late afternoon, I opened up a new alphabet puzzle I'd bought awhile back, and did a small session with Syd using CASHEW NUTS <her recent addition to her diet?> as a reinforcement. I was very happy to see that she " gets it " , as far as rewards are concerned. It's no surprise though, I've bargained with her for kisses in exchange for food now for years. Well, I have to get into bed and watch " Elliot " . Shaun is waiting. Oh, and , I got your message! Sorry I wasn't home to get your call!!! Let's talk again next time, OK?
