Guest guest
Tucson woman says apartment infested with mold KVOA.com - Tucson,AZ,* a Heartquist Reports http://kvoa.com/Global/story.asp?S=6728503 & nav=HMO6 A woman on the east side says she will not go into her apartment anymore without wearing a mask. She says she found " mass amounts of mold " growing in the walls. Sardina has been staying in a hotel, and wants the complex to reimburse the cost and move her out. " I couldn't figure out why I was feeling worse; I would come in and I can't hardly breathe and I'd have a headache, " said Sardina. She says she's literally sick and tired. Sardina and her 17 year old daughter have lived in the Hampton Park Apartments located on East Old Spanish Trail for nine months. This past weekend, she was cleaning up when she says she made the discovery: small speckles that looked like pepper sprinkled on top of her dresser. Sardina says she looked up at the ceiling and couldn't believe her eyes. " Right here is where I first discovered it; my dresser was right here and it had all kinds of black stuff on it, " she said. She quickly took pictures of what she calls mold. " This is all mold in here, " she says as she points to a picture she uploaded onto her computer. After the discovery, she says she called the complex maintenance workers to come in and clean up. When they did she says, " Golf ball sized chunks of mold fell onto my carpet. " Sardina and her daughter immediately got a hotel room and have stayed there the past four nights. Now Sardina wants the apartment complex to reimburse her for the hotel cost of $317.00 and pay to move her out. " I want to be moved out completely and I want him to pay for it, " she says of the complex owner. News 4 went down to the office where an employee told us she was aware of the complaints and they were investigating. In the meantime, Sardina says she will not be staying at her apartment, anymore. " I don't know what but I'm tired of dealing with the maintenance man and the assistant manager who tell me, 'Oh well.' You know, they acted like, 'Bummer.' " News 4 checked with the woman living below Sardina. The woman did not want to be identified on camera but showed News 4 what she called mold in two different places in her apartment.
