Guest guest
Hi, Dan. I saw your message about dandelions. Are you in New Mexico? Did you get the rental house?
Guest guest
Hi, Yes, we did make it to New Mexico, just two days ago. We reconsidered going south of Albequerque, but heard from a lot of sources that the farther south you go, the poorer and sleazier it got. I don't know for a fact, but we checked into a church in Albequerque, got a motel room that had mold and made Carmella and Little Dan sick, so I complained until they gave me a refund and we pitched our tent at a KOA. We did not like Albequerque, we felt so alienated there, and so unwelcome, so we headed north toward Colorado. At this moment we are at a state park near Las Vegas, NM, and it is nice, not crowded like KOA's, and a lot cheaper, but no internet connection, so we are parked outside an Internet cafe to do exactly this. We will be here until Friday, then we may move toward Colorado, but not sure yet. Looking in to job possibilities at state campgrounds. We are just about broke until the first of the month, (state camp ground camping is cheap for those on the move), so we may hang here, or we may move forward, just not sure yet, we have a few days to discuss our plans. I will say, Sante Fe, NM is nice, a very high class type town, probably a little too rich for our blood. Las Vegas is very nice, and the people here are friendly. We went to a grocery store, and every person we would say something to broke into a conversation as if we had known them for years. However, if we tell them we are thinking of relocating here, their smile remains but the expression in their eyes changes a little. Then we ran into a Native American who moved here about a year ago, and he says the town is tight. In otherwords they have lived here all their lives and don't like change. He has had a few opporunities close on him because he is not from around here to begin with. However, I'm thinking that given time, that would change. Of all our travels over the past two weeks, these are the friendliest people we have met. Thank you for thinking of us and asking, we've had days of no internet, and days of interenet but no mail servers, so I'm taking advantage of this while I have it. Enjoying the scenery, Dan & Carmella Dunkin

Will check email again and write back next time we find a connection. Maybe by the end of the month we can get the cable to use our cell phones, until then we have to find wifi hot spots, and some small town area's don't have many open wifi spots. We are planning at this point to move northward a little more, to somewhere around trinidad Colorado, which is still dry and very clean, but they have less water issues. Due to some of the flora that is indigenous to that area, we expect it to be relatively mold free as well as NM. Guest guest
Dan & Carmella, Glad to hear that you made it and a safe trip on top of that. From what I understand there is an MCS group or community in Albequerque here is the link: http://www.herc.org/hhc/AlbMCSInfo.html Hopefully you will be able to find a safe place soon.
