Guest guest
Disability Update Federal officials issue new guidelines on special educationThe Education Department last week offered new guidelines to school districts for providing special education to students with disabilities under the law. They suggest that districts must recognize a broad definition of disability under amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act that went into effect in 2009. "We must continue to take steps to enable every child, regardless of disability, to reach their full potential," Education Secretary Arne Duncan said. "This guidance reiterates the department’s commitment to ensure that educational opportunity is provided free from disability discrimination."
