I bought an Austin about two years ago and like it. I like the

sound it makes. You can hear it. If you want silence, you may not

like it. However to me it makes a soothing wooshing sound that I

like to sleep with. In my small apartment it makes it smell

slightly sweet. In my house it didn't but apt is very much smaller

size. The smell is pleasant to me. I also get sweet smell from

activated charcoal masks. I don't know if activated charcoal smells

sweet to everyone but it does to me. I figured it would have no

smell at all, eliminate smells and air smell would be 'blank' but

perhaps my sensation of odor has changed and I pick up smells I

didn't use to pick up or they have changed after mold exposure.

Carbon tetrachloride I read has a sweet smell so perhaps they are

related. I bought the model that is for chemical sensitivies too.

It has activated charcoal and zeolite in it. Anyway, I like it and

would purchase it over again if I needed one again. I believe

, moderator here, has one also.

Barb,

hasn't gotten one yet. boohoo :( I will be though within the next few

weeks. I need 3 and wanted to get them all at the same time so have been

saving. As you know I need to do the whole house (apartment soon to be-so

that's why I am getting 3-gotta make sure the apartment is safe at all times) I

don't really think they are noisy. But, then I am used to the ones I have that

are VERY loud. But, my kids can't sleep now without the noise, so will probably

have to run a fan as the Austin are much quieter than ours. It won't feel like a

jet is taking off any longer. hehehe You are right. They do smell nice. To me

it is a clean smell. Kinda lifts my spirits each I visit the store they are

being used in. Waiting to get these is like anticipating the birth of a child.

It can't happen fast enough. LOL Don't forget to go to this site

http://www.ioniczone.com/austin-air-healthmate-plus-s/59.htm do the " e-mail me

a better price. " The guy over here says he'll honor the price because I am a

customer and he said " oh I'll beat any price you find. " (Then wished he hadn't

said that-after I told him the price-hehe) Maybe your retailer will honor the

price, if this company says they ship w/in a couple of days. Good Luck.

love them all.

THey sure take the perfume out of the kitchen when any visitor is over

for a moment, or my daughter rushes past to her sealed off room area.

Barb & ,

Of the people I have met along the way who grew up in the South with fans,

they too would talk about how they can't fall asleep without a fan going.

I will see if I can find any retailers that carry Austins so I can hear what

it sounds like. Thank you for the feedback.
