Guest guest
It's common for the companies that make these biocides to represent them as being a complete solution to mold in a building when in reality many of them are not even approved for the uses they are sold for and many, probably most of them DO NOT DEACTIVATE MANY MOLD TOXINS.. in fact, many of them are known to - if used improperly, to liberate the toxins from the mold and that may in fact concentrate them, if the liquid that has been used with them is not rinsed away and then removed, I've heard from a number of reputable sources. Also, MANY of these biocides (which means 'kills living things' BTW) are in and of themselves toxic especially if not rinsed up. Bleach is an example of a chemical that can be used to remove mold from wood, nonporous surfaces, etc, with hard scrubbing, wire brushes, etc. But the bleach in water must then be removed and the area rinsed and that water removed. (Since it probably comes up again and again..Bleach should not be used on moldy sheetrock. Moldy sheetrock known to have possibly toxinogenic molds on it should just be COMPLETELY removed and REPLACED WITH NEW. It needs to be disposed of by people USING PPE!! N-95 or N100 preferably masks, gloves, disposable clothing etc, - as you would any toxic substance, in doubled up, sealed plastic bags. The moldy sheetrock is usually covering studs, THOSE ARE WHAT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED WITH BLEACH, then rinsed and all of that water REMOVED. Then the area needs to be given several days to dry out, then the new sheetrock needs to be put in.) Back to biocides.. I've heard its common for biocides to be used as some magic prophylactic with NO SCRUBBING and then AND NOT RINSED UP WITH WATER AND REMOVED AFTERWARD! That is not the way they are supposed to be used. If bleach is left on wood it will weaken it structurally, also. Powdered bleach in the air is dangerous, and some of the other biocides are highly toxic! So, people could complain about mold and then the end up with not just mold toxins in their home but also other chemicals that could be harmful as well. while their (insert irresponsible party's job title here) claims " everything is fine now, you and your children, coworkers, etc, can go back in' A lot of people just believe them! > . > > >
