Hi Barb:

There are SAFER alternatives to the dangerous pesticides and thats what

they should be using. SPraying constantly is ridiculous as the 1/2 life

of some pesticides is enormous. The air freshners are primarily used to

coverup something...well, get rid of the problem don't mask it.

There comment " clean air inititives " is an oxymoron. SZure, I care aobut

the environment but we all know what IAQ can do ...look at all the moldies

on this group. You dont need to have MCS to have problems

withscents...asthma is a hell of al ot more life threatening than MCS.

Ther was not a single reference in my article about MCS or CI. I

conentrated on what is more likely to be a result of what I perceived as a

IAQ issue.

Using ozone ina room and not allowing it to offgass, let along using it

when it is occupied? Sorry, thats not healthly. Not to mention emitting

low levels of radiation? MCS is not the issue...

The lawsuit that was referenced shows how obessed they are and the over

application of pesticides...how about spraying every

WEEK? That's not necessary. But that is what one hotel in thier chain

told me. When I questioned them why, they said they wanted to make sure

they didn't have any bugs.

You referred to the sticky traps; they can and should be used. Placment

under sofa and furniture will keep them out of sight and do an effeicent

job. Also, use of door sweeps and caulking will keep most insects

form getting in the first place.

The sweps are not a one time installation, they need ot be monitored for

breaks/cracks etc, and iether be replaced or repaired. The first

principle of pest management is to deny the pest access not to reach for a

pesticide.

Insects like humans have a range of senitivity to pesticides. Frequent

application selects for the most resistent insects, humans don't have that

luury, the sensiitive ones have a right to a safer oom on the road. The

standard of industry shoudl not be roodms that only tough humans can

tolerate...ie those who work in steelmaills...you get the idea.

Insceticides are tested on middle of the road rats not senitivi3e rats,

extrapolation are made form that data to humans. Which have a huge range

of sentivity.

Eco-labs is NOT safe for anyone...their MSDS sheet prove that. The maids

cart which carries the cleanign supplies, when walking by you can see that

there is a " precautionary notice " regading the product

I can't recall if the 03 reacts with limonene...I am sure Carl will chime

in on that one. As I know he has more of that knoweldge than I do on that.

The entier jist of the PR was to show that you cna't claim to be " clean

air " yet pollute it where the preponderance of your business is generated.

They reuse/recycle water...then use proven SAFER methods of pest control.

I know people tend to be slobs when staying at hotels as they do not have

to clean up after themselves. But the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis.

I beleive that if oyu are staying in the long term suites the roms are

genrally cleaned 2-3 times a week.
