Guest guest
We've already done a couple of rounds on this story - if you're upset, write your representatives. FRANKLY, I think spending money on Hollywood accurately representing illness is REALLY IMPORTANT in terms of getting the word out about disabilities - if we ever get them to recognize our stuff, we're gonna want them offering good information on what we've been through. Dunno 'bout the rest of y'all, but the CDC SHOULD be a neutral voice, and there are a LOT of corporate voices out there making light of our situations - I think the CDC ought to be funded in a way that will attract the brightest minds to work there - I'd like it to be the best in the world in terms of identifying and discovering cures for all kinds of conditions. But sure, if you'd prefer it all research to be corporate run for the benefit of the folks who sell pharmaceuticals, go ahead and complain... Medical schools are already fast on that track. Does anyone here HONESTLY think our concerns will get taken more seriously and cured if we privatize scientific leadership? To each their own. ~Haley tigerpaw2c <tigerpaw2c@...> wrote: This was on last night on CBS News. Guest guest
Hollywood and the CDC. I find this to be an alarming way for government to disseminate misinformation to the masses. It grew gradually. It started off with Hollywood going to the CDC to ask technical questions to get accuracy in medical aspects of shows. Next, they used it to relay public messages with health significance, such as instead of having soap opera characters meet in a bar, have them meet in a health club. Then it became the CDC had a paid rep in Hollywood who would have input into many shows to promote, thru what was meant to be entertainment, the CDC agenda. This is WRONG. It is dissemination of propaganda thru the abuse of the entertainment industry. Not only is the CDC now impacting what we do get to know about science, they are impacting what we don't get to know about science. And the average Joe, who doesn't even realize how much he learns from watching TV shows, gets subjected to much scientific misinformation or is denied access to scientific information because the CDC is misusing the entertainment industry to control the masses. This is Orwell, 1984 type propagandizing info the masses. We've already done a couple of rounds on this story - if you're upset, write your representatives.
