Quack, as you know, I moves half way 'cross country to find someplace I could

afford a bit better - and I understand I'm one of the lucky ones who can afford

anything AT ALL and who was able to borrow from family to make the move and get

myself (mostly) re-established. (And, let's put 'afford' in quotes, since I'm

likely going to have to sell my car...)

Sometimes, not moving means that life itself may not be affordable (read:

viable).

agree with Carl, Barb and everyone else. If moving is an option, you

should move.

One thing though, I wish that people on here would understand that for many

people, especially those living in urban areas, often moving isn't an option

like it is for people in most of the country.

If you are sick, you have often lost yur job and without a job, of on a

fixed income, its often simply not possible to rent an apartment.

Any apartment.

Please read the news, on the disappearance of affordable housing. Rents have

been skyrocketing, putting many people, especially those on fixed incomes,

in a situation where there isn't anyplace for them to rent at all that they

can afford. Or often, even that they can't afford. If they move out, its

into their cars or into the streets. In that situation, its a impossible

situation with no solution besides the landlord fixing the apartment

properly, and rapidly.

Which happens much less than it should.

There is OFTEN no other place for poor people to go.
