The thought of 50 balls around here is > so disturbing, AND the picture of the older kids, prevented me from opening > it. Grace: Your two are definitely old enough and I suspect they might like it. But you are right about the balls. We constantly pick them up and throw them back into the ball pit. Even the cats -- NO THE CATS DON'T PICK THEM UP, SILLY!!! -- play in the ball pit and spill the balls. At any given moment a room will have at least one ball pit ball in it. There are ball pit balls in the garage, the back yard, the car, under beds and down the laundry chute (a fun idea from the perspective of a certain age). To punish myself even more, I bought EXTRA balls. I probably have 150 or 200, can't quite recall. Oh, and we have ballpit balls from our old ballpit; I first bought a blow up ballpit such as you describe but those always get holes so now I have fold up kind of ball pit, with a crawling tube and a little room. It also has an attached basketball hoop. Nonetheless the ballpit is SO much fun for my little kids that I really do not regret all those balls. Salli, lots of balls
Guest guest
Have you tried a Geosafari? We bought one with and he loved it...was doing world geography at 4 years old. Now Conor loves it...they make it as a laptop now..but you can still get the older version pretty reasonably priced at EBAY. Some of the card sets include: World Geography, Animals of the World, Sports, Dinosaurs, Music, etc. Pam Mom to and Conor Check out our webpage and sign our guestbook <A HREF= " http://www.geocities.com/oceangirl65/index.html " >Yahoo! I don't even KNOW how many Gameboys we have. I even have one so that I can do email while Enrique plays Pokemon for me. I am not appalled. I took it out and showed him how to use it. He met with frustration for a few days. I watched him this morning doing a set on the planets...he got everyone right and even knows how to put the codes in himself now. It is great because sometimes in the mornings when he wakes up early it can entertain him for about 20 minutes and that means a little extra sleep time for me. Guest guest
> Any suggestions for a 5yr old with a genius level IQ, 7 yr math skills, 3 yr communication skills, who is learning to read and can do simple math? Who has very rudimentary pretend play? > > Jacquie Jacquie - What about miniatures of his favorite characters? Jacqui has become quite good at using her little friends (Sonic adventure guys) to recreate all KINDS of things....from life events, to video game re-enactments. (Of course, she always wants me to play and we always have to play the same game, unless I attempt to initiate something new). The other thing is try to find some existing toys that can be used in an unusual way. For example, Jacqui has a Fisher-Price Fishing game. Now this game is for a 3 year old and she's really never played it. Well, we incorporated her characters. Each one got to " fish " and fill up their boat. When they were done, another character acted as the judge and would help " add " the numbers on the fish (yes, there are numbers on one side, fish pics on the other). So I would make Jacqui do the addition. she likes this game...at least she did. This morning she said " I want to play a more THRILLING game than fish " . ugh. Anyhow, where am I going with this? I forget. Can you tell she's on track break? P.S. Are high end video games out of the question? Jacqui's is back on the " sonic adventure " video game kick, and dh bought her a manual which she studies intently...She's gotten to the end of all characters but one. Between the Sega, the Sega Dream Cast, the Game Genie, the Game Boy and other stuff my geeky dh has picked up, we have everything covered. Although it looks as if it's time to give Sonic Adventure a rest again....See " sh*tty day " post. ugh Penny
