Guest guest
I've gotten a bid to clean up my attic. Not much mold up there but some found, the length of one beam and some other wood here and there. Also attic air getting down into house so this is most likely why I feel sick at home during the summer months. Actually not doing too well anywhere now as mold count is up outside. Anyway....proposal to clean attic, throwing out old insulation and hepa cleaning attic, then using two products on any mold there. Bid is okay, not cheap but okay. I don't mind them using fungusicide to clean up mold on wood because I can stay out of house for awhile. However proposed to spray entire attic with post remediation 'encapsulating' product which has fungusicide in it. Since attic gets very hot I figure it will offgas for a long time, and even if areas that are allowing attic air to come down can be tightened, one will never keep all attic air out of an old house, so think spraying the whole attic with a fungusicde doesn't sound good to me. Anyone have any comments about this? I'm thinking I could ask him to use post remediation product he calls an 'encapsulant' with fungusicide on only that wood that needed to be cleaned of mold. That's one idea but wonder if I should have something like that sprayed in attic at all. He is proposing to use a product called Shockwave to clean mold areas and Aftershock to encapsulate wood in attic: <http://www.fiberlock.com/gr/mrp.htm>
