Guest guest
Cate I would ask for natural thyroid. In Canada it is called just " Thyroid " and you would feel SO much better with some additional T3. I was oin Syncrap for 25 years an almost died all the while being told my thyroid was normal. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Cate I was on Levothyroxine for 25 years and I found a great doctor in Toronto, who treats adrenals with Cortef and Thyroid with desiccated thyroid which in the USA is called Armour. He does the Saliva test your first visit. He's a great compassionate Naturopathic Medical Doctor and he is coverred by OHIP. Except the $80.00 fee the first visit (the visit is 1 hour long and ohip only pays for 15 min. but that is a one time fee) I can't say enough good things about this doc. Is it ok to post his name Val or so you want it emailed? Jill>> Hi I'm new. I'm Cate, I'm 40 and I've been hypo for 12 years (at > least). I take levo (200mcg) and I feel like crap. Guest guest
I have an appt with my family doc next tuesday. I'm not good at confrontation but I'm going to ask. I'm also going to call tomorrow and see if I can get an appt with Jill's guy. Wish me luck. I can't keep going liek this. I'm a tired, sapped out mess. Back when I was first diagnosed 12 years ago, I has a tsh of something like 150 or 180 and an uptake in the hyper range. Go figure. It all evenutally netted out as hypo and I've felt like crap since. I take 200 mcg of levo (I believe) and its doing very little even though its a big dose. Somethings gotta give. thanks for listening cate > > Cate I would ask for natural thyroid. I have a great doctor who listens and has been a thyroid activist for 40 years...he also prescribes Armour (natural thyroid) but I am allergic to it for some reason. So this T4/T3 combo works for me...Good Luck. Fran
Guest guest
Hmm, allergic to the armour. That is instesting. What symptoms did you get? I am a bit worried about that actually as I've had allergic reactions to some drugs (and other things). cate > > > > > > Cate I would ask for natural thyroid. Guest guest
Thanks to Jill, I managed to get an appt with her doc. Its not until may but its a BIG start. I was only on it for 2 days but became very hyperthryroid (resting pulse 102) with even the smallest dosage and called the doctor's office and they said to stop taking it until I see the doctor again. (The funny thing is that my mother who has had a thyroid problem her whole life swears by the Armour...she is unable to take the Synthroid because she is allergic to that!) At that point he recommended the Synthroid and then eventually added the Cytomel. The only time I became hyperthyroid was when I took too much Cytomel at one time...now the amount I am taking spread out over the day is perfect for me. Guest guest
Fran this is an adrenal reaction NOT an allergic reaction. Please get adrena; saliva labs done. You can order your own through www.canaryclub.org they are reasonable and i can help you treat them to where you will tolerate not only T3 but Armour. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets
Guest guest
Fran and Cate I had the same reactions when I started Armour. Dr D put me on Cortef and all was well after I got my dose of Cortef up to 22 mg and learning about stress dosing. If it wasn't for Val back on the ol STTM site I wouldn't have made it. She walked me right through it and Dr. D agreed with it. I'm off the Cortef and off the Armour as well, RT3 thing happening . Just started all Cytomel 3 days ago and I'm down 5 pounds already, yipeeeeeeee! >> Fran this is an adrenal reaction NOT an allergic reaction. Please get > adrena; saliva labs done. After 1 month off the Synthroid I was 100% hypothyroid again...my muscles ached, my joints hurt, depression began to settle in, brain fog and extreme tiredness...someone at work asked me why I looked so tired and how my thyroid was doing...that was the wake up call for me to realize I needed the Synthroid so I began taking 50 mcg a day and within 2 weeks alot of my symptoms went away but the other thing I did was stop taking the Cytomel at that point...within 1 month after starting the Synthroid again but stopping the Cytomel my physical symptoms improved but my mental and emotional symptom did not. I thought that maybe I had an adrenal problem so began to read all about it and go back to my doctor...at the same time I also realized I needed Cytomel but small dosage at a time. Within the day I took the extra Cytomel I began to feel better mentally and emotionally. After seeing the doctor last week and mentioning posbbible Adrenal Fatigue but also mentioning the fact that I am on both Synthroid and Cytomel my symptoms are disappearing and I am beginning to feel normal again he mentioned the saliva test. He muscle tested me for adrenals and I seemed to be strong in that area so he said keep with my plan on both the T4/T3 and keep a diary on how I am feeling...meanwhile I am taking advice from Dr 's book on Adrenal recovery.
