Guest guest
I am not sure if I understood your question well. There are molds that live in water, say in the oceans, seas, ponds, etc. However, these are not the molds that cause damage in buildings. Molds found on dryland such as those found in buildings have different water requirements for growth. Those that require high levels of water are the types that will be dominating in flooded or leaking buldings. Some molds, for example some species of Aspergillus and Penicillium require very little moisture to grow and hence are very common even in buildings with no moisture damage. You may find more information about molds at this blog http://www.moldbacteria.com/myblog/default.html
