Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am so thankful for this list. I think as parents (and educators) we have so much to offer and share with one another. I know I have learned much on this list and know it serves such a great purpose. As we all know, doctors, as knowledgeable and as well meaning as they are sometimes, don't have a clue as to what we or our CHARGEr's go thru. It's wonderful we have each other to counsel, encourage, and teach. If it's alright with you, I'd like to start sharing things that uplift, and inspire us also. If anyone objects, let me know and I'll stop. I don't know about everyone else, but it's HARD, VERY HARD sometimes for me to be Jeff's nurse, his caretaker, his teacher, his mother, his friend, his advocate and still have plenty left for the rest of the family. There are times my " well " runs dry and all it takes is a wonderful inspiring story, or a poem, or saying and I've been replenished. I've saved many of these through Jeff's 15 years. I have a beautiful granddaughter (3 yrs old) that has CdLS (Cornelia de Lange Syndrome) and my daughter has recently shared some wonderful uplifting things from the list that she's on. I know time is a premium for all of us, but if any of you have things that you'd like to share along these lines, I for one would welcome them. I don't mean to sound as if I'm falling apart or I'm not coping because that's far from the case. . . . I do have my days tho! Jeff is a great blessing in my life. He has taught me and given me the opportunity to learn things I never would have had the opportunity to know if it weren't for him and his disability. He is my greatest teacher, I'm always learning from him. (Just as I think I've mastered patience, he does something new, that teaches me, no mom, you've still got a ways to go!) He is my greatest challenge and my greatest joy rolled into one great and wonderful kid. I'm thankful to be his mother. So, here's one to start with . . . . . A meeting was held quite far from Earth! It's time again for another birth. Said the angels to the Lord above, " This special child " will need much love. His progress may be very slow. Accomplishments he may not show. And he'll require extra care From the folks he meets down there. He may not run or laugh or play; His thoughts may seem quite far away. In many ways he won't adapt And, he'll be known as handicapped. So please be careful where he's sent. We want his life to be content. Please Lord find the one who will do A special job for you. She will not realize right away The leading role she's asked to play. But with this child sent from above, Comes a stronger faith and richer love. And soon she'll know the privilege given In caring for her gift from Heaven. Her precious child so meek and mild Is Heaven's very special child. ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
