Guest guest
Rhonda: I am also taking a slow release cortisol & a slow release T3. I do notice they stay with me longer. I got into taking it every 4 hours because I couldn't raise my T3 w/out crashing but my thyroid levels were low and I had major hypo symptoms. Today I am trying to your schedule of 5, 5, 2.5. Can you tell me how many hours you wait in between taking your doses? Guest guest
Val, I have lowered my Cortisol and I am able to sleep at night, but now I am waking up with the shaky feeling inside. I tried to increase my T3 a tad from 30-37.5 and today I feel totally brain dead. I can't seem to get feeling somewhat normal. I tried taking the most of the HC in the morning, but felt like it was too much with just 10-2.5. Then tried 7.5-2.5-2.5 and still felt like too much. Today, I am going to where I felt somewhat normal with sleep 5-2.5-2.5-2.5. I called my doctor on Thursday, but she didn't get back to me. The clinic is closed on Friday, so I guess I won't hear until Monday. After all this I am able to sleep and breath again, but I feel mental confusion or brain fog. Do I need to cut the thyroid back down? I am so lost and frustrated. Any ideas? Re: Trouble w/ the hc increase Hi Rhonda:Thanks for the reply, I don't feel so alone & crazy. :)I am going to lower my hc tomorrow. I have to. I have the exact same thing happen to me that is happening to you. Tonight I can't breath. It feels like my organs all slowed down, too slow, my heart, my lungs, my body. I'm not sleepy or calm but feel like I can't get a full breath and like I'm barely breathing. Not a fun feeling at all. In the morning I am so shaky, hot, have trouble breathing & I wake up 2 1/2 hours before I normally wake up. It started when I increased my hc. Maybe Val can help us out. I noticed when I lowered my hc the other day I felt more energy and wasn't hot. It was nice. I take 12.5 & 6.25 mcg 1st thing then I have to split the rest up, 6.25 through out the day. I don't have a set schedule, I'm all messed up since switching to just T3.Gayle> > > >> > > > What feels liek low blood sugar probably ids and htis is form > > OVERALL > > > > low cortiosl. Guest guest
Gayle, When you increased your T3 did you feel any calmer? I am still having the shaky feeling after lowering my Cortisol and raising my T3 from 30 mcg to 37.5. I am able to sleep, but feel like crap with mental confusion or brain fog? Any luck with you? Did it help when you lowered your HC? Re: Trouble w/ the hc increase Hi Rhonda:Thanks for the reply, I don't feel so alone & crazy. :)I am going to lower my hc tomorrow. I have to. Guest guest
Rhonda: My body is so out of whack! Ugh! I was fine with the first 5 mg of hc this morning. I was able to wait 5 1/2 hours. Wow. I did take a vitamin c but that's nothing unusual. Then I took another 5 mg and I fell asleep. I got so sleepy & next thing I knew I was waking up from a nap. My hands & feet got red, swollen & I was hot & shaky. So, I think that 2.5 would've been fine. I'm going to try 5, 2.5, 2.5 & maybe 2.5 and see how I do. Yesterday I did 5, 5, 2.5, 2.5 & couldn't sleep. Let me know how your day goes tomorrow. Good Luck! Guest guest
Rhonda: How do you take your T3? All at once? If so, how did you do it? It's funny, my doctor told me to only take the Cortisol SR twice a day too (he also said to take the T3 twice a day). He said most of his patients are on 7.5mg a day total. Some take it all 1st thing and some divide it up. He's very flexible. When I worked my way up to 40 mgs of hc he supported me and referred to the " Safe Uses of Cortisol " book. He is at The Hotze Wellness Center out of Houston, TX. I went there almost 3 years ago but don't live in Texas anymore. I do phone consultations still to be able to keep getting the prescriptions. It's inconvenient for labs. Honestly, I like getting advice from Val. She's always there for me. I can't find any doctor I like. Where do you go? Guest guest
Rhonda: I use to be on 40 mg of hc about 6 months ago. I am now doing exactly what you are doing and trying to adjust it at the same time as you. It's really great to talk to someone going through the exact same thing & trying the exact same thing. I am at 12.5 mg of hc. HC and cortisol are the same thing. My pharmacy calls it cortisol sr because they are a compounding pharmacy and make it themselves. I live in Georgia right now. I like California. I went on vacation there once and stay at Santa & visited Bodega Bay & then spent a few days in San Francisco. Pretty. Today so far I have taken 5, 5, 2.5 & am fine. I hope I won't need the other 2.5. Val recommends taking melatonin. I think she wrote about it in one of the files somewhere. You should ask her about the dosing. If your afraid to take it (I don't like trying new stuff at first) & can open the capsule or just take a bite to see how you feel that would be good. It's suppose to help yor sleep. Good luck tonight. Gayle > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > What feels liek low blood sugar probably ids and > > htis > > > > is > > > > > form > > > > > > > OVERALL > > > > > > > > > low cortiosl. Guest guest
Gayle, It is funny you are at 5-5-2.5-2.5. I am not at 5-5-2.5. I am on the Cortisol Sustained Release. So, it stays with me a lot longer and I am finding if I take the 7 p.m. dose of 2.5 I can't sleep. So today I am at the 5-5-2.5. I hate to go lower than 12.5 mcg a day. That seems to be the dose that I am tolerating. I also, lowered my thyroid medication because I was at 37.5 mcg and was feeling shaky when I went up. I don't think the Cortisol is working for me after changing around the last couple of weeks. So, I thought I would go backwards and start where it felt pretty good. I also, have phoned my doc, so I will let you know what she has to say. I also went off of my birth control pills about two weeks ago and maybe it is having more of an impact than I think. I was low in estrogen and progesterone, but she said that the birth control was supressing my estrogen and we were working on weaning me from 9 weeks on 1 off to 3weeks on 1 off. I did the the 3 weeks one off for two months and thought I would try to go off so I wouldn't have to reorder. Thanks for your post. It helps me a lot to hear from you....Hope you have a good week!! When I couldn't breath I had to sleep elevated and I put a hot compress on my eyes to help me getting sleepy. It helped some. I also took a chewable Gaba tablet to help me relax.... Maybe these would help you when you are not breathing well at night....Rhonda Re: Trouble w/ the hc increase Rhonda:I couldn't breath & could barely function at the increase of 7.5, 5, 2,5, 2,5. I am currently trying 5, 5, 2.5, 2.5. I still am waking up 3 hours before my normal waking time. I just lay there & suffer. I felt best at 5 upon rising & 2.5 in the early afternoon & woke up feeling fine but I had an adrenaline dump & it totally scared me. So I also tried 5, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5 & felt fine for a few days but then started to get angry & felt calmer after going to 5, 5, 2.5, 2.5 I just can't deal with the swelling & shaking. I am so sleepy now.In the past whenever I lowered my hc because I felt like it was needed (I went down from 40 mg hc) I felt shaky for a few days but felt my adrenals kick and work. I felt more energy with each hc decrease. I just couldn't get lower than 5, 2.5. I do know for me that I can't increase my T3 if I just lowered my hc. I have to wait several days or a week. Sometimes I would add vitamin C to get me through those days but then I could cut back on the Vit C with no trouble. Do you take Vitamin C? It might help. I was glad to hear about your breathing. It helped me. I thought that I would be able to breath again too. The feeling of not being able to take a deep breath is scary.Gayle> > > > >> > > > > What feels liek low blood sugar probably ids and htis is > form > > > OVERALL > > > > > low cortiosl. Guest guest
Gayle, I am still waiting for my doctor to call. I have not been able to sleep. I take my Cortisol SR every 4 hours. I wasn't able to sleep on the 5-5-2.5 I took last night. I am so frustrated today. I so far have taken 5-2.5-2.5 today. I went back and looked at my journal and that is the dose that worked for me before I tried to take more in the morning dose and my body is now all out of wack. Guest guest
Gayle, I heard back from my doctor and she said that I should only take it in 1-2 doses per day. I told her she had said to take it in 4 doses and she said she never said that. Frustrating... I had told her about Val's ramping up schedule and she was okay with it. So, anyway starting tomorrow, I am going to take 5-5. I remember her also telling me that if I was taking that much cortisol I should be able to tolerate the 37.5 mcg of thyroid meds. Now, today she said that I should wait and get the adrenals stable. I told her I didn't take the 37.5 at first because I wanted to get the adrenals stable and was affraid to do it too soon. She also didn't think the birth control was causing my problems because it supresses the estrogen...How did your doctor prescribe your cortisol sr and where do you go? Rhonda Re: Trouble w/ the hc increase ,I am taking Cortisol SR and T3 SR. They are both from Hotze Pharmacy. I order it online but I went to see them years ago and I do phone checkups a couple times a year. Guest guest
Gayle, I am going to try and do 5mcg at 7:00 a.m. and maybe try and do another 5 mcg at 11:00 am. That way it will be low for when I go to bed. If I am feeling too hyped I will probably try and go a little later like 12 or 1. I go to the Holtorf Medical Center in Torrance California. I went there when we were on vacation in San Fracisco last year. I see Dr. Shah. I did hear good things on some of the e-mails, but she is willing to try new things. So, I have to work with her. I don't have anywhere else to go right now. I live in Minnesota. I didn't know you were on Hydrocortisone 40 mgs. Are you in the process of weaning? Did you switch because hydrocortisone doesn't work for you. Is the Cortisol stronger than Hydrocortisone or are they the same? My doctor recommended taking Melatonin tonight. She wants me to start at 3 mg and can go up to as much as 9 mg. Asked her about side effects. She said, there shouldn't be any. Thinking I should worry about that one??? Have you ever tried this. I should have read all the e-mails about it when I saw them. I will keep you posted as to what happens tomorrow... Have a restful night. Guest guest
Val: I am still having so much trouble with my hc. I felt fine before the increase when I was at 5mg 1st thing and then 2.5 in the afternoon. I am now at 5, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5. I cannot increase without having trouble breathing so much that I can't do too much. Now when I take the 1st dose of 5mg I get so sleepy, trouble breathing, thigh muscle weakness, irritable, tmj. And with my last dose of 2.5 my feet get very swollen & red. I tried just 2.5 mg of hc 1st thing this morning and felt fine. But I went ahead and added the other 2.5 an hour later because I wasn't sure what to do about tapering off, if that's what needs to be done. I then felt tmj, sleepy, irritable, low blood sugar. I first increased hc because my heart was racing so fast at night. When this happened again, this time I added some T3 and felt better. Does being hypo cause similar symptoms as an adreline dump? Heart racing, panic, etc. Could the hc be suppressing my adrenals too much in the morning? Any suggestions? I haven't had any heart racing in awhile. Do I need more hc? I tried adding more but I get low blood sugar and swelling when I do. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Gayle > > > > > > > > > > > > What feels liek low blood sugar probably ids and htis > is > > form > > > > OVERALL > > > > > > low cortiosl.
