Guest guest
It is a great idea. But it was not mine. It was 's. It would be pretty easy....if someone would do it. Just compile them everyday and then at the end of the month, share the file with those you know would take the time to fax them. Sharon's idea of mailing your Senator of Congressperson a batch of printouts containing each month's worth of stories on mold situations is GREAT. I'd also like to suggest that people include a note with those printed pages stating clearly that there has been a " market failure " that requires Federal rulemaking because self-regulation is not working. use those words.. that there has been a " market failure " - somewhere in your letter.. that seems to now be important. (For example, people could point out that a huge percentage of people who are injured by mold, (especially all renters) may have their health, which really means their lives ruined by mold but never be able to afford to pay a lawyer upfront to sue and not be able to find one on contingency because their financial losses don't seem high enough to lawyers to justify their spending the time on the case.. This is a GOOD example of a market failure because right now, the tort system is THE ONLY RECOURSE for people injured by mold, and that system is stacked against them.) Emphasizing the " market failure " aspect is important in helping because of this new Executive Order 13422 (which apparently just went into effect), which requires Federal agencies to identify " market failures, " where the private sector fell short in dealing with a problem, as a factor in a situation before proposing any new Federal (like EPA, CDC, NIOSH, etc.) rules to the White House regulatory affairs office (which now needs to approve them, the agencies can't issue rules themselves like they used to.) ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
