Guest guest
I've known about the problems with portables long before Katrina (see link below). Think about all the ones filled with students and teachers across the country!! Just minutes ago I just heard a man on the news talking about the bridge collapse. He said what we have all discussed recently! That our country has failed to invest in our infrastrusture. The aging infrastructure is a chronic situation across the country and our failure to invest is catching up with us. When you look at the big picture it is terrifying!!!! It is all because of money and I honestly believe if something isn't done immediately we will begin to see the ship sinking fast. The gentleman (wish I knew his name) said it would cost $ 9.4 BILLION a year to begin fixing problems!! AND that's just the bridges which doesn't include our workplaces, apartments, schools, etc. It's a living nightmare, but I intend to keep fighting!!!! Another thing that got me thinking and has nothing to do with mold or infrastructure. Did anyone else wonder about the number of children that were on the school bus that was on the bridge? I'm a former teacher and know that 60 is way over the limit! Seating capacity is 45 I think but I know they always try to squeeze 3 to a seat. Again, it's all about money. Why pay for 2 buses when you can fit them on one?! Thankfully they are all safe and well. _http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Aug02/0,4670,FEMAToxicTrailers,00.html_ (http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Aug02/0,4670,FEMAToxicTrailers,00.html) WASHINGTON — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has stopped donating and selling disaster trailers while it studies reports that people living in them after hurricanes Katrina and Rita got sick from formaldehyde exposure. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
