ok so not to confuse myself ( or anyone else) ....this is pasted from an nih

ms site ......read through line 2 ........so NIH NOW ways syringomyelia

causes ms type lesions in the brain !! so ok ....i know this has my brain

thinking overtime here , but given im told I have both acm and sm based on

mris and my history , id say this might well challenge the opinions rendered

just last year ! on the other hand , could this be*just * a poorly worded

statement , meaning only the symptoms are the same ? 2 seperate sentances here

folks , appears to me they are clear in stating a syrinx can lead to ms like

lesions !

since i have refused a spinal tap ,knowing this could cause dificulties with

chairi , im guessing there is little short of that , that could shed further

light , but this one has me floored ! for all being told possible ms, as well

as acm or sm , i guess the issue just got more murky !

Diagnosed?</A>

A number of other diseases may produce symptoms similar to those seen in

MS. Other conditions with an intermittent course and MS-like lesions of

the brain's white matter include polyarteritis, lupus erythematosus,

syringomyelia, tropical spastic paraparesis, some cancers, and certain

tumors that compress the brainstem or spinal cord. Progressive

multifocal leukoencephalopathy can mimic the acute stage of an MS

attack. The physician will also need to rule out stroke, neurosyphilis,

spinocerebellar ataxias, pernicious anemia, diabetes, Sjogren's disease,

and vitamin B12 deficiency. Acute transverse myelitis may signal the

first attack of MS, or it may indicate other problems such as infection

with the Epstein-Barr or herpes simplex B viruses. Recent reports

suggest that the neurological problems associated with Lyme disease may

present a clinical picture much like MS.
