Guest guest
It may be a " line " she's been told to say. I tried to go see it when a friend was here but it was only being shown in two theatres. The most convenient one to go to, an AMC movie theatre had only one showing a day, at noon! Other than that the only theatre showing it during the day and at night was a local independent theatre on the nearby university campus which has limited parking as the area is mainly 'walking friendly', as the students can get there on foot and otherwise the parking areas around campus are crowded so we didn't go there. Since we were going out at night, so we saw Hairspray instead, so I have not seen it. It was odd that an award winning adult movie was only shown at a matinee hour. Checking today, SICKO website invites you to put in zipcode to find where it is playing: http://www.sickotix.com/ It listed 4 theatres it was playing at but when I went to theatres it listed, it was not showing. The only theatre that was showing it in the evening, and 4 times a day, at the university, last showing was August 15th but then the university is not all that large. I also went to MovieTickets.com and could not find it showing anywhere around here now. So apparently it showed for 6 weeks at the university theatre where it was showing 4 times a day but gone from major theatres now where it was showing as a matinee movie only 4 weeks out. At least that was all I could find. I don't go to the movies that often so I don't know if one month is common or not, but certainly thought it was odd that an award winning adult movie was only showing as a matinee. --- In , " tigerpaw2c " <tigerpaw2c@...> wrote: > > If everyone would please check their areas to see where the movie > Sicko is playing, I would be interested. Guest guest
It sounds like theater owners are being pressured not to show Sicko by some powerful entity.... Maybe their health insurers? In any case, I think that it sounds disturbingly like what happens with mold illness... (them telling us it doesn't exist when we are sick with it and we KNOW it does.) Hmm..looks like your on to something here K.C.
Guest guest
Barb, Sorry I didn't see this earlier but if I did I wouldn't have checked this out. I searched under Massachusetts Theatres, came up with this link _http://www.findthefun.com/lists/vxMA48.htm_ (http://www.findthefun.com/lists/vxMA48.htm) when you click on movies, select S for movies beginning with S. Sicko does not come up at all. Strange?? In a message dated 8/19/2007 2:19:37 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, barb1283@... writes: It may be a " line " she's been told to say. Guest guest
You know, its quite possible that Sicko's first run has ended and that almost everyone in Mass. who wanted to see Sicko in theatres has already. I know that most of my friends who went to see it did a long time ago. Its been out for QUITE some time now. Theatres keep films running based on their ability to fill theatres. Theatres are businesses and there are newer films that they want to show. Big multiplex cinemas and 'art houses' often keep special interest films like 's films running longer but they aren't that common. I don't know. But its a good possibility that most of the people who have not seen it by now may simply be waiting for the DVD/videotape release.
