Medical Professionals who will listen?

I am currently writing this from the hotel room my husband and I were

forced to book over three weeks ago after yet another 'unexplained'

incident at our house (this summer) in which we both woke up from a

nap unable to breathe, move without a lot of pain, had metallic tastes

in our mouth, were nauseous, and could barely think. We've had the

fire department come out and check for leaks, been to the urgent care,

etc. with, of course, no findings. After looking into what could be

the problem I am almost certain that we are having issues with mold.

Our environment is perfect for it - we live in NC where the heat and

humidity this year have been record-breaking. Our home is over 100

years old with an old HVAC system and we have had several leaks over

the past year, along with very high condensation and indoor humidity.

Our symptoms have gradually escalated from minor breathing and

fatigue problems to mood swings, skin leisions, severe breathing

problems, heart arythmias and marked increase in blood pressure,

memory problems, severe muscle and joint pains, vision problems,

hearing problems, confusion, total exhaustion, gastrointestional

problems, strange facial flushing and weight gain. Currently my

husband is diagnosed with a neurologic problem of 'undeterminate

origin'. I am currently scheduled to see a cardiologist to look into

these new developments discovered on a recent EEG. We are both in our

early 40's, vegetarians, and although we have had some previous

illnesses (I have always had allergies and asthma) we have never

experienced anything remotely like this before. We are planning on

moving as soon as possible. I am concerned, after reading so much

information on the web, about the scarcity of medical professionals in

this area. How can we find a doctor who is informed and willing to

listen? The thought of spending year after year just trying to get

some acknowledgement that that actually is a problem so that they can

even begin to help us with this is very distressing. I was hoping we

could benefit from the suggestions of people who have already been

through this process. Any information would be very much appreciated.
