Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumor

OT a little but my cousin has a brain tumor and is expected to die

soon. Email from his wife stuck me when she described brain tumor

as being 'mushroom-like' as you can imagine why:

Thanks for your note.

You probably don't realize how bad is. He has a Glioblastoma

Multiforme brain tumor. It is the most deadly of the brain tumors.

It was removed last September 8th and but is growing back in. It is

a type of tumor with feelers (like a mushroom) that want to

regrow. He had chemo wafers put right in his brain where the tumor

was. And then he had radiation treatments, chemo pills (two

different kinds twice) and also chemo IV a couple of times and

Avastin (supposed to stop the blood that feeds the brain tumor).

His last three MRI's have been bad. Grew down into the brain stem

and now is growing across the brain. I am sorry to say there is no

hope for him now, Barb. He is down into the final stage and is

getting bad quickly. Hospice has been coming here for at least a

month. They are wonderful people. We have a live-in caregiver (38-

year-old Philippino man) that helps so much to take care of him and

move him around. is paralyzed on his left side (left arm and

left leg). He cannot walk a step anymore and is either in the

hospital bed or wheelchair. I'm just thankful that we have him at

home and not in a facility.

We have lots of good friends and they stop by a lot to visit .

He sits in his wheelchair out on the deck. Lately though he is

sleeping a lot more and doesn't talk as much.

The oncologist can't tell me how long he will live -- says everyone

is different -- but I am guessing days or weeks. I can't imagine

life without -- we have been married 41 years.

Well just wanted to bring you up to date.
