Subject: ALERT! HOMEOWNERS' CONSTRUCTION RECOVERY FUND TO BE

ELIMINATED

Dear KC:

Hi! Hope all is well. Below is a message from the governor's

office regarding the Construction Recovery fund in Florida. It was

being proposed to cut the FUnd as part of the state's budget cuts

because of a huge deficit. I had posted a request on " Sick

Buildings " asking people to write Governor Crist and beg him not to

allow this little bit of consumer protection to be a victim of

cuts. Apparently, our voices were heard and the proposition of

doing away with the Fund is now off the table. Thanks to everyone

who helped.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for writing to Governor Charlie Crist expressing your

views on budget reduction proposals submitted by the Department of

Business and Professional Regulation. Governor Crist appreciates

hearing from you and asked that I respond on his behalf.

Due to an anticipated budget shortfall, Governor Crist asked all

state agencies to take a crucial look at what core services agencies

provide and to identify areas for potential reduction. When the

agencies submitted these proposals, the Governor's Office took a

careful look at each and developed recommendations that targeted

administrative reductions and operational efficiencies that would

not impact direct services to Floridians. To the greatest extent

possible, these recommendations maintain essential state services to

Florida's most vulnerable citizens and ensure the continued safety

of our people.

You may be pleased to know that the proposal to eliminate the

Construction Industry Recovery Fund within the Department of

Business and Professional Regulation was not included in the

Governor's budget reduction recommendations.

Again thank you for writing to Governor Crist. Your concerns are

very important to him.

Sincerely,

Whitfield, Coordinator

Office of Policy and Budget

Executive Office of the Governor
