Guest guest
I'm so good all day long avoiding carbs but have such a hard time at night. Does anyone have this. I don't need to eat a whole bag of cookies or anything but just want " something " that seems like a treat to me. I've battled with this for so long, trying different nightime things. Somehow veggies, fruits or meat which is the basis of low carb diets don't go well with me late at night, too fibrous, so I thought chicken or beef broth, sugarless tea...but when the time comes I want a carb. I hardly have any in the house but find myself fruitlessly looking for some at night even though I doubt that I have any. I can be disaplined for a limited period of time, say I following a particular diet for a specific period of time, but it gets harder and harder for me to limit myself to no sugar, low carb I think SINCE I'm not getting better. I have to qualify that though. I HAVE gotten much better than when I was in the midst of exposure but now that I am out, I seem to have leveled off and not getting back the energy I once had, leveled off at a point that still is not functional. Perhaps this is what Dr Croft is referring to. You get out of harms way and it isn't as if you get your old self back. However I did recover 'some'. Has anyone found a solution to this...like certain vitamins or something. I once heard having sufficient magnesium levels lessens cravings for chocolate, etc. Or found a carb that isn't too glycemic to have at night??? I absolutely had to have a popcycle but store for those was closed so came home with ice cream. Maybe it is the ice chewing thing + wanting a carb too. I think I may make some pineapple juice popcycles. Anyone have some other ideas. I feel so much better if I stay away from carbs in the LONG RUN. Guest guest
Hi Barb, Yes, yes, yes... I did not know sugar was carbs but in light of what you have said I do now. This has gotten way out of control for me. At times I find myself skipping real food for that sugar fix (assuming that is what it is.) What sets the symptem in stone for me is my habit of sleep walking into the kitchen and consuming anything sweet. What I do not consume is left on the counters floor etc. Wierd? Yup... I can only think that the cravings are not something I can just say no to because that is the3 only thing I do when I sleep walk. Since I was exposed I have mysteriously become lactose intolerant but I'll be damned if the cerial is the first thing I seem to gravitate too. Awake I would not do that. Only then am I able to lay down and go back to sleep. If there is nothing in the house I just end up not sleeping. Have I found a fix for this, sure, more sugar??? I don't have any idea but it is awful and nice at the same time to know it is not just me. Guest guest
I know more sugar is not the solution, as it just feeds and helps the fungus to grow if you have any internally, like Candida. I've heard of people walking and eating in their sleep. That is a problem. For that, I would not have any sugary things in house so when you nightwalk, you don't find any. However if you think you will sleepwalk until you find them, keep snacks that are mild carbs, i.e. not much sugar in them then. I will turn the house " upside down " looking for carbs, which I usually don't buy in first place, but want one so bad I search even knowing it's doubtful there are any. If it's not too late at night and I can't get it off my mind, I may run out and buy something to satisfy. Sometimes a little tea with honey in it will help, but if I haven't eaten well during the day, I am hungrier and need more calories. The only thing that helps me is to make an effort to eat well during the daytime, so I'm not very hungry at night. Still might want the carb, but craving is less and may be able to bypass the desire, or just the tea w some honey will solve. Basically don't think it is a good idea to go to bed after sweets though, as I figure they lay in digestive tract overnight, possibly stimulating Candidias growth. My sleep is also more 'restless' after a sweet at night. All incentives to stay away from them but despite this have a difficult time some nights. > > Hi Barb, > Yes, yes, yes...
