Guest guest
Mold closes portion of lin Town Hall Norwich Bulletin - Norwich,CT* By DUSTIN RACIOPPI http://www.norwichbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article? AID=/20070901/NEWS01/709010315/1002/NEWS01 FRANKLIN -- Business downstairs at Town Hall has been suspended because of a mold problem. The area normally is used for storage and meetings. Thursday night's town meeting was held at lin Elementary School. First Selectman Matters said he discovered the mold Aug. 14 and immediately stopped any business in the area. A contractor was called in to dehumidify and clean the site; the work is continuing. Although the source of the mold isn't known, Matters believes it stemmed from a known incident. " We had back in April some water issues, and we had it cleaned up at the time, " he said. But it is possible the cleaning done in April wasn't complete enough. Caroline Grant of Baltic Road hopes the mold is taken care of soon, but said the first selectman did the right thing by shutting down the area. " I think they should clean it up before it gets out of control, " she said. " Because if you breathe it in long enough, it can cause lung disease. " Matters expects the cleanup to be completed soon, though there is no specific timeline. Business is being conducted as usual in the unaffected areas of town hall.
