Guest guest
Hi all and thank you for your prayers! I went to work on Monday as usual and my boss/friend took one look at me and said " your worst wants wrong. " So she called my PCP to get my appointment pushed up but he was out till today. So they told us to go to the ER, so we went and they finally took a MRI. I immediately noticed that the shunt was not anywhere to been seen. The x-ray tech said he didn't see anything either but the assistant neuro said that he saw the shunt. The idiot was looking at the scar tissue. Well, then the neuro himself DR Duke looked at the MRI and agreed with me that the shunt was gone. So Wednesday morning I was in emergency OR. The shunt was replaced and then the fun became. NOT My nurses gave me 100 mgs of Demerol and then 100 more an hour later cause the first wasn't working but then this happened two more times till I had a total of 400 mgs of Demerol in my system. finally it all released at once so they had to increases my pain. My heart rate was 144 per second not my BP. My BP was 156/122 which is really high for me. My normal BP is around 100/75. I stopped breathing numerous times so I was on oxygen for the next 3 days then I was starting to feel a bit better but then all of a sudden my pressure went down again and I was back on oxygen till Monday the day I was discharged. My bladder was acting up before this and I was catheterized everyday I was there and should still be but I was told by the assistant that " normal " people who have had a shunt revision are release a day or 2 later. Am I with ACM II, SM., possible tether cord, possible Spina Bifia and other physical problems considered normal? The shunt is going to stay on top of my bladder they said that as long as its not causing any problems they are leaving it alone.
