Guest guest
Hi Carl, this is another question about crawl spaces. What does conditioned crawl space mean? Ours is dry and was never even damp before vapor barrier. vents are closes and crawl space now has an opening (with a screened vent) into house basement. We run a SaniDry system with air purifier which is keeping the RH between 38 to 43%. Do we follow the same procedure during the winter? Am I guessing the dehumidifier won't run as much in the winter months. Thanks very much. If the air in your crawlspace is conditioned then that means it is coming from inside the house. If the crawlspace RH has increased then it's because the house RH has increased. If there are no holes or tears in the barrier then reducing the house RH will decrease the crawlspace RH. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

Guest guest
Okay, so that tells me that since my vents are sealed and vapor barrier is installed air from my basement and crawl space is the same since it is being dehumidified by one unit and also filtered. Thanks for explaining, Carl !!!! We even had a smart drain installed under the bathroom. Just incase of a leak the well catches the water which goes into the ground below the vapor barrier( but can't come up) an alarm will sound to alert us there is a plumbing problem. Sue Conditioned air, as opposed to raw, outside air. Raw outside air has not been modified or treated (unconditioned)Ra which means it has a wide range of temperature, humidity and pollutants that keeps changing. Humidity and cooler air will be brought into the crawlspace where it can condense and accumulate moisture, causing a number of problems. " Conditioned " in this case does not refer to " air conditioning.d Conditioned air means it has been altered to be comfortable to people inside the house. This is the source of the air into the crawlspace rather than directly from outside. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC ----- > > Hi Carl, this is another question about crawl spaces.
