He pleaded not guilty to both misdemeanor charges, and was released after posting two bonds totaling $800. According to a police report, a patrol officer stopped Delgado at 2:53 a.m. June 18 after he allegedly ran a stop sign in the 800 block of Lomaland Drive in East El Paso. A field sobriety test was administered, and Delgado was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, the police report said. The report said Delgado initially volunteered to take a breath-alcohol test, but later changed his mind. Police said they later found a plastic bag containing less than 2 ounces of marijuana in one of Delgado's pants pockets, and they charged him with possession of marijuana.
