Your Tri-Cities News Source attended the press conference held by

the Sullivan County Board of Education this afternoon.

School system officials announced that yesterday, workers discovered

patches of mold along baseboards in a classroom at Sullivan North

High School. They sent the mold to be tested, but they do not yet

know what kind of mold it is.

School system officials said the classroom where the mold was

located was not in use and isolated from the rest of Sullivan

North. They said the room flooded during the summer , and they

believe that's what sparked the mold growth.

No students or teachers have been in the classroom where the mold

was located since the school year began.

News Channel 11 spoke with environmental experts at the news

conference. They told us for mold to have a health impact, people

must be constantly exposed over a long period of time. They said

there is no cause for alarm.

Since the classroom is not in use, school officials believe the

problem can be corrected without disrupting classes at Sullivan

North.
